Hey everybody! It is good to be back, we lurk occasionally and see waht you are all up to but this bean has been really busy with graduation and getting a new job.
Java is doing well, we test monthly and he is between 80-100 consistently. Vetty is happy and so am I. We have been having a lot of pukus lately and while he is being treated with budesenide, I wondered if any of you had any ideas?
We are strictly FF classic, beef, beef and chicken, some chicken, some liver, some turkey but they really prefer beef. No seafood.
My civvie is puking more than usual also although he was treated for hyper-t with I-131 in december so maybe that has something to do with him.
But any ideas on Java-man? Thanks in advance and it is good to see you all.

I can't help you with the pukus, but hopefully someone else will have some more ideas for you, today.
 
Has Java always eaten beef without a problem? Simon loves beef, but seems to throw up more after he eats it. Same with my other kitty. You might want to not give it to them for a few days and see what happens. Have you given them pepcid when their tummy is not feeling well? Both my cats respond really well to pepcid and do not have as much pukus issues.

More details, please!! Is Java puking up food? Does this happen at a particular time of day?

If it's a food-related issue, you may want to track what he's eating and whether he pukes. I had the same thought as Georgia -- this could be a food sensitivity to beef. You also might want to try a different brand of food like Wellness or Merrick's Before the Grain or even raw. With the IBD, you might also want to check with your vet -- maybe the dose of budesonide needs to be changed.

If this is liquid, is this a hairball? Or, if this happens several hours after Java's eaten, is it due to an acid stomach? If the latter, try an extra snack so there's not a long gap between meals.
 
Hey, Steph!! Glad to hear that, other than the pukus issue, Java is doing well! :-D :-D :-D :-D

I don't have any advice, but did want to throw in that Willie can't tolerate any food with beef, including homemade food... almost always, it is pukus central if we do. We stick to formulas with poultry as the primary ingredient. We stay away from fish because it is high in phosphorus, and Willie really isn't a fan.
 
thanks everyone. Yes it is mostly food or spit. hardly ever hairballs. I mostly feed beef because that is what they seem to like but sometimes the puking is very shortly after he eats. we were doing the budesenide every other day but he doesnt seem to tolerate that so I am back to every day. I give them a can each with water and leave it out because they are grazers. I will try cutting out the beef and see if that makes any difference. I am glad there are some other food options, I will try the merricks and I will try wellness again. they seem to really like the FF but man they eat a ton of it! We go to vetty tuesday for a weight check. thanks for all the advice, we will try not to be strangers.
