Litter question for our sugar babies!

I have noticed since Mimi’s hind legs have weakened from neuropathy as a result of the disease, she’s been “sitting” to take a pee and getting litter clumps stuck to her. I notice this because when I try to get a sample for ketone testing, she’s not in a stream anymore, she’s flat out sitting on the litter.
She just had a bladder stone earlier last year and I’m worried this will give her some kind of infection eventually.

anyone have any suggestions or advice on what to do? Do I need to switch her litter? She’s on Dr Elsey clumping clay litter- has been for years.

There were several suggestions on another thread. Switching to pine litter or a paper one, like Yesterday's News. One member used the wood pellets for wood burning stoves and picks them up cheap at the Tractor Supply store. That sounded really clever and cost effective, but I haven't tried it personally.

Only thing is, I read on Dr Piersons website Catinfo.org that clumping litter is better for the fact that you can monitor how they are peeing, by the size of the balls and frequency. I had feline pine once when my other cat cut is little foot and it was easier to handle- just pull out the turds and throw the whole thing away every few days.

I tried finding a condo on this and I didn’t have luck. Maybe I’m not doing something right when I search
 
I am currently using Cats Pride Unscented (blue label). It doesn't stick to Ollie's fur or to the box.
