Has anyone used drops instead of Denamarin? Houdini has been on Denamarin for years but is getting crabby about the daily pill on an empty stomach. Pet Well Being has some you mix with food. Sounds easier to me - if he will eat it that is.....

I give J.D. Denamarin, and he has also been on it for years. If I put medicine in his food, he won't eat it.
I give Denamarin for dementia. Are you giving it for what it's intended for, the liver?

Yes- his ALT fluctuates a lot - never really high but above normal anyway. I didn't know you could use it for dementia....makes sense though because of the SamE.

Gail, I just saw your post and since I had / have kitties with liver disease, I can tell my experience with Milk Thisle; My first one – she lost lots of weight, had diarrhea and vomiting on ongoing basis and stopped eating. I was forced feeding her for weeks. The medications stopped working and the vet said there is nothing else what they can do. I was devastated, A naturopath doctor ( I was working for her part time,at that time, gave me milk thistle.) I mixed it with a little can food.. After a week, she started to eat on her own and after 3 weeks her diarrhea was gone as well the vomiting. Slowly she gained almost her wait back. She doesn’t eat the milk thistle on her own it was always forced in her and that became a routine every morning program with some cuddling. This gave her an extra two years good quality of life. Now I do have another kitty with almost same issues. She is a harder case, since she is a wild feral kitty; I started with her with milk thistle, then I find Liveraid from Petalive.com / nativeremedies.com This LiverAid is a safe, non-addictive 100% natural homeopathic remedy specifically formulated to relieve symptoms of liver problems, plus promote pancreatic and gallbladder health and it comes in convenient, dissolvable granule form. My kitty very fussy, she smell anything what I want to put in her food and won’t touch it, but this I just sprinkle on her can food and she eats it with no problem. She is well when she is on liveriad and when I stop giving her, her vomiting comes back after a week or two.
