So after last night's weirdness, everything seems to be status quo this morning. I'll be around, or at least in and out today to try to monitor. I am keeping Linus in the house until I can get a ketone test.

I wonder if he caught something outside and ate it just before we all got home last night? Wouldn't explain the high BG (unless it was a hummingbird - what do you suppose the carb percentage is on THOSE?), but it would kind of account for why he wasn't hungry and was ready for bed.

Here's hoping everyone has a great day today, us included!

LInus today:
+9.75 194 fed
AMPS 330 fed
+2 390
+4 353 fed
+6 326
+9.5 337 fed

Steady and pink all day, but knock on wood, no reds. I waited him out all day on the litterbox, left the house for 1 1/2 hours and came back and he had finally gone. I had put a plastic bag in the litter box hoping he would hit it, but no luck. Still, he's eating and drinking, and I will continue to try for that ketone test.

Could have been worse, I really wish it would have been better with that 194 this morning.

Looks like you need a poster w/ Linus' picture on it at the IHOP as well!

I wasn't around last night, so I guess I missed all the excitement. Glad he's back to normal, even if that means pancakes...

Did you get any rest?

I make really nice IHop posters for a small fee.
Just supply me with a picture of your cat.

Could be quite the lucrative business around here!

I am almost sure that any critter they catch and eat "in the wild" is going to be low carb. I've read here and elsewhere that the "perfect" nutritionally balanced food for kitties is mice, and that the only carbs in mice comes from partially or non-digested food in their tummies. I think most wild animals would be high protein, low carbs, low fat.

PMPS update - BG is 340. Shot a half hour early to back up the schedule for later this week. Linus was STARVING, you would think I never fed him. I do have to say that usually - not always - he has food left from the last feeding. Not this time. The dogs decided he was a strange animal in the backyard and chased him around and cornered him. I have to say, he isn't usually in the yard, but still, you would think they could recognize their own cat. Maybe the exercise helped his BG. If that's the case, I'll throw him out in the middle of the yard every night.

Jenn, as far as sleeping last night, he was on the bed, so every time I woke up I just reached down to make sure he was ok. I got a reaction and a little purr every time, so I knew he was ok. By this morning, he had eaten all the trout and gone back to bed with his bear.

Let's not make that IHop poster just yet, I'm hoping to keep him at home. I know he was flat today, but the beginning and ending numbers were better than they have been.
