Lev starting dose for higher dose kitty

Hi Claudia.

Generally, we suggest lowering the dose of Lantus (most people here switch from Lantus to Lev) by 30% when switching to Lev. You're dropping the dose by 40% so it should be fine. I'm going to presume the same will hold for switching from ProZinc. You may need to bring the dose up after a few days. It will take 5 - 7 days for a Lev shed to develop and for you to really see any effects from the switch. Just be patient. The other big factor to remember is that Lev dosing is based on the nadir, not on the pre-shot values. It's going to require that you change the way you think about dosing.

Hi Claudia!
Thought I'd let you know that the dose I would give Tom for his 600+ mornings he was giving me I cut from 2.5 to 1u and got the same results only the staying power was tremendous. There is not much movement but when you hit a lower number it just holds for hours and hours...
So cutting dose is an interesting start. It was soooo tiny in that itty bitty u100 syringe I thought it would'nt touch him...but the proof is in the SS.
I saw results on the first day.
Welcome aboard friend,
and be prepared for a total reversal of what you already know.
Lori
Good Luck!
