Lev: Prefilling Syringes

Not sure if I should ask this here or in health... I'm going to visit my grandchildren for a few days, and I'm very nervous about leaving my foster cat, Kitty. My roommate has never done insulin shots, and I'm so worried that he'll draw up the wrong dose, even if I leave him a "sample" syringe with colored water. He's not patient and gets rattled easily. How bad would it be to prefill syringes for Friday, Saturday and Sunday? Would the insulin be completely worthless?

I can't take Kitty with me because my daughter has a cat and a dog, and Kitty despises other animals. The cat would probably just stay outside for a few days, but the poor little dog is very old and she'd be terrified of her hissing, spitting, growling relative.

It's not really recommended, however I can report that a woman on the German forum used to prefill her Lev syringes (a week at a time I think)and didn't seem to have any negative results. I think if you have to it's better than not giving insulin at all. I wouldn't recommend it with lantus though due to the pH dependent thing. I think the worst that could happen is the insulin would lkoose potency, as long as your cat is not at risk for ketones etc. a null dose or a weak dose is safer than an overdose.

That's what I was thinking. She hasn't had ketones since she's been here, so we should be okay there. I'll worry a bit less now.
