Just got the call from the vet. Civee Sterling will go to the rainbow bridge late this afternoon. His vertigo is caused by an aggressive cancerous growth that started in his inner ear. It has broken through the ear drum and his causing him more pain & confusion. It's non-operable.

I adopted him when they thought he was between 2 -5 years old. I had him almost 6 short years (5 days short) & that big grey lump brightened my every day.

The crappy part of letting him go is that it would have been my mom's 82nd birthday today. I'm having a really bad day. I'm going to try and cuddle with him, if he doesn't mind the tears.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Sterling. Fly free, sweet boy, free of pain. Your Mama is going to miss you.

I'm SO SO sorry Julie....big huge loooooooooong hug. Of course he doesn't mind the tears mixed with the cuddles...

Soar high on your new angel wings sweet baby...landing softly right back in Mama's broken heart...

Allowing a loved one to go to a place of peace and no pain is always such a hard thing to bear. Your love and caring is what is allowing Sterling to make that difficult transition between this world and a world with no pain. The pain remains for you, but the amazing act of love of letting him go is a priceless gift, the greatest show of love.

May all your wonderful memories over the last 6 years give you strength and peace at this difficult time. :bighug:

I am so sorry! Letting a cat go is always one of the hardest and most painful things you have to do as a bean..
