I'm home from surgery. I fractured my left and dislocated my wrist. The nerve blocker hasn't worn off :( I can use primary hand and arm.

Any hacks for drawing with one hand, administering dose with one hand, or treating with one hand???? :(

I tried it all with one hand. I had to go behind him to tent the skin with toes instead od my fingers so i could give hi,m his dose. Getting the test extremly difficult because i was unable to hold ear,

You might want to have your vet put a Libre on him until you're able to test with a regular meter. At least then you'd only have to use your phone or a reader that you can get with it to see how his BG is doing. It only lasts 2 weeks (at BEST) but it may be your best bet for now.

Can you call a local pharmacist and see if they have any suggestions/aids for giving shots? You think there'd be solutions for people with mobility challenges.

You are right! The nerve block is wearing off and I should be able to use my fingers tomorrow morning, thank goodness though.

@Shell Had somebody in the Facebook group suggest using a clothesline clip or maybe a hair clip to "tent" so at least you wouldn't have to use your toes. Just make sure it's not so strong that it hurts Pumpkin.

Thank you so much. I am so happy to say that I am able to use my fingers again. The nerve block wore off.

For drawing up can you support the insulin container in the left arm/cast and draw up w/right hand? For injecting can you get a very short-needled syringe so you do not have to tent?
In August of last year I cut halfway through my middle finger (including halfway through the bone) on my dominant hand. The right hand was in a cast. I got by testing and injecting my three insulin-dependent cats. The cats went w/o one meal and injection though
