Hoping someone can help. Over the last few weeks Tiger has been laying down in places like the kitchen, hallway etc.
I’ve been testing him by pricking his ear and he is between 15-25 mmol/L so quite good readings by his history! These are taken pre-shot. I am not able to do his nadir reading just yet due to work. Nothing else is different apart from a bit more yowling and slightly more greasy fur. He walks a little hesitantly but nothing too obvious. He is eating as normal (which is a lot). He hasn’t lost weight either. He still jumps on the bath for a drink out the tap or on the sofa for an ear rub. It’s just the flopping down on the tiled floors that is odd. He’s not hiding away like he’s sick. He’s laying out in the open where all the action happens. It might be diabetic related or it might not(arthritis?). Could it be neuropathy? He does have a strange claw that looks like it might be growing at an odd angle but he’s not limping on it. I have a vet appointment booked in a week as they were booked out until then. Any advice would be appreciated as everything was starting to work itself out. I’m now testing him and I’ve got his diet right. Strictly eating Weruva, tiki and fancy feast salmon pate.

I should add he tends to slightly drag his back legs when he gets up from the ground.

I would say the bhavior is dur tp BG being too hign. The cure on 2/11 had a PS of 508 and nadir of 304. With continued high BGs cats tend to get neuropathy, especially in the hind legs, that cause walking difficulties.

You can find videos on feline neuropathy on Youtube and see if it looks like that.

As Tiger showed you end of January, he is quite capable of diving down from high preshots to numbers under 100 (5.5) so preshots are not a good way to test. Any time you have on weekends, or even getting a test before bed if it's a couple hours after the shot, can provide valuable clues.

Thank you. I think it is neuropathy as he is not acting sick. Everything is normal except the laying on the floor.
Ok thank you. I will get some shots closer to nadir. Weekend will be a good opportunity.

We just did a +3 test. He was 18.0. Not too bad! I have also just updated the spreadsheet with all the recent tests which were ear tests. I think both Tiger and us are getting used to it and it’s not a difficult exercise anymore!

He has actually lost some weight in the past week and the coat is quite oily today. It’s like he is going through the same symptoms we noticed when first diagnosed. Is this normal for the onset of neuropathy?

When our cat was developing hyperthyroid, he started sleeping in the porcelain bathroom sink, and on tile floors, because it felt cooler to him and his body was now running hotter.
Be sure to mention this behavior, as well as the kinds of places he lays on, to the vet when you are there
