I'm wondering if anyone is compiling or updating data about the carb content of various canned foods. I'm aware of the charts at catinfo.org such as this one, and this one. They stopped updating in 2012 however. And then there's Tanya's List which is from 2013. Do we have anything newer? Or any reason to believe these are out of date?

My main personal goal with asking this question at the moment is to try to find out the carb content of the various Fancy Feast Classic foods. Even if they vary between 0 and 9% or something it would be good to know what I'm feeding in case it has an effect on BG.

You can email he company with any questions you have about their products and they'll reply with the answers. Also, somewhere on here, I think there's a formula to use to figure out the carbs yourself. I think BJM has it.

I wrote to them and got this rather unhelpful response:

"We appreciate your interest in our Fancy Feast® Gourmet Cat Food Classic products. While we can provide you with caloric information for all of our Fancy Feast® products, we cannot provide it for each and every one of our products via email. However, if you can narrow your choice to a particular flavor or two, we'll be happy to fulfill your request via email. If you would like the complete caloric content for all Fancy feast® flavors, please let us know and we’ll send along via mail in 10-14 business days."

Pretty sure I asked for carbohydrate info not caloric info. :/

If you request the calories from each of protein, fat, and carbohydrate on a dry matter basis, you can then determine the % of calories from each.
With the gauranteed analysis listed on the cans, you can only estimate the contribution of carbohydrate by subtracting all the givens from 100% ... and the givens are done as maximum and minimums, so there are actually a range of possible values that could result. (I'll take ;ow to solve simultaneous equations for $200, Alex....)

Yeah, sometimes they act like you're wanting to know where the fish used in the food, was caught! I guess I'd probably write them back, let know it's CARB info that you need and why. Tell them they can send it however they want to. Or better yet, ask them to post it on their website, that way they won't be "pestered" with questions about it.

I have always just called their toll free number and spoke to a representative and ask for each flavor I wanted to know about. They were always very helpful and then in a few days, I would receive a sample from them in the mail.
