Hi there! Andy has been on Lasix for a few weeks now and is doing very well. It's a wonder he' still with us. Since being on the Lasix he has been drinking a lot of water. I presume that's because of the dehydrating nature of Lasix?
 
That is correct. Lasix make the kidneys work harder to reduce fluid accumulation around the heart and lungs. My Mitten has been on it for about two months and she drinks and urinates a lot more.
 
Lasix also tends to deplete some electrolytes especially potassium. You may wish to ask your vet to do monthly blood work to moniter this. Many people on lasix end Up needing potassium supplements.
