I got my overweight cat a laser pen, she loves it.
But my question is, how long can I get her chasing it for?
Like humans go to the gym for an hour or two as a safe guide; what is a safe guide exercise for overweight cats to exercise please?
She runs the length of the room. She really loves it and when turn off the pen she hunts around for it.
If anyone can guide please

Thank you

First of all, make sure she has the okay from her vet for any exercise program you begin! I see in your signature that she has a heart disorder, and this will play a large part in determining her exercise regimen.

For most cats, you want them to play/exercise just until they start to breathe heavily. If your kitty starts to pant, it's too much/too long. The guidelines may be different for kitties with heart disorders, though, so please check with your vet!

My vet recommended that she does the exercise and that she does daily. Inwould do nothing against the vet or to put her heart or her at risk.
But the vet didn't say how long to get running about for.

When humans start an exercise programme they're usually advised to start slow and build up the time gradually. I think it would be a good idea to ring your vets and ask them for advice on how long to exercise each day plus, with the heart condition in the mix, any clinical warning signs to be aware of that mean you should stop/call the vets for advice.
