Hi I have a question about storing Lantus. I have read the info on this but I still have a question so hope someone can help. I have been giving my kitty Lantus since May 2012. I usually pick up my vial from the pharmacy and come home and put it in the refrigerator. Well, today I picked up my vial, came home and set it on the counter and forgot about it until about 5 1/2 hours later. it is unopened and I have put it in the refrigerator but now I am not sure if it is still good or if it will still last. One vial usually last me about 5 months in the refrigerator

It should be fine, you might only get a few months out of it now but keep an eye on it and if you start to see floaters, cloudiness or decreased action after a few months you know why.

I've accidentally left my Lantus out plenty of times. The expiration on it is 28 days non-refrigerated, so you should be fine, especially since it was unused. As Wendy said, in a few months, just watch for floaters or an unjustified increase in numbers and that's how you'll know when it's done.
