? Lantus vs Glargine

I need to change to Lantus from Glargine (generic Lantus). While I know they should be the same, and wouldn’t think twice if I were the one using it, I’m having significant anxiety (not helped by the fact that he’s on 4.25U and should increase to 4.5 —and has had very erratic cycles the entire time he’s been on insulin but much worse the last month (some cycles needing 2-3 times the usual calories and most or all of MC)

so I’m looking for reassurance—has anyone switched —either Lantus to Glargine or Glargine to Lantus—and were they the same in practice as they should be in theory?

Hi Colleen, the last time I picked up insulin from the pharmacy, they did not have any Lantus in stock and gave me Basaglar (Generic Glargine). I noticed no difference between the two, albeit my kitty is on a lower dose than Methos.

Hi Colleen, I actually switched from Lantus to generic glargine. I saw no difference in Cleo's BGs :)
Thank you Angela—why did you switch? I assumed I got the generic because it was all Walmart carried but when they couldn’t get Glargine they gave me Lantus. When I’m not stressed out over a stupid refill system that didn’t work correctly I’m going to call the pharmacy to find out which they do t usually run out of and try to always get that. Just in case….

Same reason, Walgreens was out of stock and filled the generic. It will be fine. Just follow the numbers :)
