Lantus question on food timing

Hello all! What is my window to give a shot of Lantus 1u in terms of food? Shot and then food?

We are giving Cheech a churu to distract her while we get her BG, but she’s not super hungry for her real food. Since she has food in her system anyways, I think ok?

the protocol is test feed shoot, however you have about 2 hours a bit less to shoot, there should be no feeding 2 hours before shot, to get an accurate reading, as long as there is a bit of food on her stomach you can shoo, it does not have to not to be a full course, but testing before shot is very important

Yes perfect! I tested her at 5:45pm (2 hours fasted) and she usually gets her shot at 6:30pm. Next time I will test closer to her shot — her vet closed at 6pm so wanted to call in with her number before then. Thank you!

the true test is just before shot, the protocol for Lantus IS TEST/FEED.SHOOT, you can do all three almost at the same time, most member s shoot while their cat's face is in the bowl, go behind the cat pick up the scruff and shoot, always downwards, not sidesways, this avoid getting a fur shot
