So i am helping a friend who's kitty was diagnosed with diabetes. I showed her how to hometest. Her vet wanted to place her cat on Humulin Insulin. I told her the Humilin's never worked for any of my cats, and had her ask for Lantus. Her vet wrote her a script for Pens.

I used to use the pens many years ago but they are much different now. The new pens have a dial on one end where you dial up the number if units you want. Then you attach a needle to the pen and press the bumber to shoot the insulin.

You cannot dial up less than one unit on these pens. I have an issue with that.
Does anyone know if you are able to stick a syringe into these pens to drawl the insulin out once you dial the amount?? I want to be sure she can drawl out the insulin because she may need to administer less than one unit.

Not liking these new pens

I use the pens. just take the cap off and use it as if it was a vial. no need to dial in a number. the clear looking plastic cartridge is full of lantus. you will want to insert the syringe in the grey cirlce.

Ok, I have a picture of the pen but don't know how to post it here. I want to make sure I understand you.
Are you saying that the see through orange part of the pen is where the insulin is?? And that I can insert an insulin syringe right into that part?

Thanks so much! The Pen pretty much looks the same, accept where insulin is is orange instead of clear. I will be going over to show her how to draw the insulin and how to shoot it into the cat this evening. I appreciate your help.
