Lantus or Levemir?

Hi everyone!

My cat Silvester is on Lantus for 2 months now. Started TR two weeks ago. I had an issue with storing Lantus, and it might have lost its durability. I have to try another cartridge to see if it will work better.

I am thinking that I have to get a new cartridge to give Levemir a try. Any suggestions or personal experience with Levemir, or switch between the two?

His numbers are looking better recently. I think I would stay with the Lantus for a couple more months to see how he does. I'm glad you are testing more. That makes all the difference in helping with the dosing questions.

I am on 1u dose right now, and I will continue on Lantus as of now. Cannot afford another cartridge right now. But I see that in most cycles, there is not enough overlap, but that could be lack of dosing too.

We usually say to give the insulin at least 6 months before deciding to switch

Silvester is still on a very low dose of Lantus so I wouldn't switch at this point.....We say it a lot around here and it's really true! "This is a marathon, not a sprint"

I am not switching right now, just considering. We'll see how Silvester does.
