how long can Lantus be used after opening? I have a vial that is approximately 6-7 months old. Is it still usable? Or should I throw out and open new vial? My cat only gets 3 U a day total so a vial lasts pretty long. His numbers have been slightly elevated recently tho and am wondering if it could be the age of the Lantus.
 
Most people here don't use a vial much past 6 months. Next time you might want to get the pens, you can use each one to the last drop. Can't comment on the numbers without seeing data in the spreadsheet. Usually a cat's insulin needs change over time.
 
I used my vial of Lantus for almost a year. Refrigerated the entire time except for the minute or so used to withdraw the insulin. I used it until the very last drop was gone. It was too expensive to waste a single drop. It was effective up to the last drop as well. Every time I started to think it wasn't Luci would hit the lagoon.
