I posted this on facebook to but will put it here for all to see as well.
I have been sick with the flu the last 24 hours and this morning while half asleep and sick, I apparently left the lantus out on the table.
That was about 815am. I found the lantus, on the table, about 730pm.
Is it still ok to use?
I popped it back into the fridge.
Im an idiot.

It's probably OK. An opened pen can be kept at room temp. Because our kitties use such a relatively small dose and we want to use the insulin for as long as possible, we keep it refrigerated. If your numbers get wonky or you see crystals in the insulin, open a new pen.

I bet you're still OK. Early on, I know we left Trix's vial out. We use pens now, and had hers out for 5 days last year during the power outage that followed Sandy, and the juice was fine!

I left our vial out before and a pen too.... I think the insulin is still good but watch out for weird numbers just in case. Dont feel bad either, I think we have all done it at some point

My box of Lantus says "the open vial can be kept unrefrigerated for up to 28 days away from direct heat and light, as long as the temperature is not greater than 86 degrees Fahrenheit".
