My cat is recently on Glargine insulin. He was previously on ProZinc. Do I need to buy a different BG monitor now that he's on a human insulin?

Welcome. As Diane said we need to see a spreadsheet to give dosing advice as we are extremely data oriented. Have a look at the stickies at the top of this forum and the dosing methods we use. A human meter will read lower than a pet meter.
There is no official comparison between the human and pet meter BGs
The scale for normal on a human meter is 50-120 and on an alphatrack ( pet meter) it's 68-150

I used to use the pet meter Alpha Trak like my vet used.
I told her I couldn't afford the test strips any longer and switched to a human meter.
I told her what is was normal for a human meter and she was fine with it.
