? lantus dosing question?

was wondering if someone would take a peak at my spreadsheet. I will be switching to Lantus this weekend because my nadir on vetsulin is 5 hours and the numbers skyrocket back up. My vet like I said before isn't the brightest. Paris weighs between 8 and 10 lbs I believe, I still have to do an official weight check. I am thinking 1 unit 2x a day for the first week and then go from there. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Here is what the vet told me and everything I have read on this page says the vet is wrong

I would start with one unit Lantus. However, if you will be around and test, starting at two units is likely OK.
Your SS says you are giving 1/4 tab mirtazipine. How many mg in a tab/how many mg are you dosing?

I can't help with the dosing but I do want to suggest that you start posting on the lantus and Levimir forum. Many of us post daily so you will get lots of help including on dosing. It's also good to get a baby scale for weighing. Many use a regular scale and weigh with and without the cat but it's not very reliable. I bought a Salter 911 on either eBay or Amazon. I can't remember which as its been many years. They are about $50.

It's a 7.8 mg tab. I give her only a quarter. Supposed to be every 48 hours but I only give it when I think she needs it. I am home all day Saturday and Sunday to watch her but Monday thru Friday I am working. Don't want to do to much afraid of hypo

How can I help? We post the date first, then cat's name then amps with the BG number. The +1 is one hour after insulin, +2 is two hours after insulin etc. PMPS is the BG you get before giving insulin. You can also just put tge date, yiur cat's name and a question or subject. Don't be intimidated. I was too when I started especially because I was bound and determined not to test at home. The folks will help you understand anything and everything.
