I am getting weird BG levels and wonder if anyone can advise. Our cat is showing sugar in his urine at high levels (maxed out on the chart!) and clinical signs such as drinking a lot etc. But no matter how much insulin we give him, we cant seem to ever get his peak below almost 200. See attached file in my signature.
We have tried raising his insulin level gradually and we are thinking its making things worse (see attached image too)- as you can see from the chart at 1IU he was averaging around 220 but at 3.5IU he averaging around 275? Plus at over 1IU he is getting some low preshot numbers. (Just for reference, he is 16lb cat (big and lean maine coon -not fat). We know the lantus is ok because we have another diabetic cat that uses it and he is responding normally.)
I know some people would think these numbers are ok but as long as he is showing glucose in his urine at such high levels then we know its not good for him.
I am almost ready to take him off entirely and see where he is without it for a week or so. He has been in remission before (although he didn't behave like this) and I wonder if this is an odd somogyi?
Any ideas?
