May 19 Krismas OTJ Thank You!
I joined your group about seven weeks ago when my tabby Krismas had been diagnosed six months. She had been pretty ill and I was overwhelmed. I posted a few messages on this board and received wonderful advice and support. I followed the tight regulation protocol, read everything I could find on this board. I just did not have the computer skills to manage the spreadsheet, avatar, etc, so I just typed up a spreadsheet, home tested several times a day, and worked on the protocol. Once she was well enough to need less than 1.0 unit Lantus she recovered rapidly. She has now been off the juice 18 days and has glucose readings ranging from 85 to 105 on the Alphatrak (which tends to read higher than human monitors). She has had a "diabetic panel" blood test with all readings completely normal. I took her to the vet today who told me she "looked great" and was in remission. I will continue to test her every few days for a while, then weekly for a month, then probably monthly after that.
I wanted to thank the Lantus support group--the credit goes to you, I never did find any vet in my area who was able or willing to provide protocol or dosing advice on tight regulation, and I could not have managed without all the expertise and understanding you provide. My kitty is so active and happy again. I cannot thank you enough. I have given the felinediabetes.com address and tight reg protocol to every vet I have talked with. Will be donating extra supplies. My best wishes to your kitties and please keep up the good work- you save lives. Kathy and krismas
