Kitty seems to be doing pretty good. She acted a lot like her "old" self this morning. She is still eating good, but becoming more selective about her foods. Before being dx she had FF flavors she preferred---but, for the last two months she has been STARVED and eaten every (LC) flavor equally. This morning she was turning her nose up to one of her "old" not so good flavors, and demanding her "old" favorites. I actually had to go to the store at 6:15 to get some chicken flavors, to ensure she ate.

I was a little scared when she turned her nose up at the beef, thinking maybe the ketones were back. But, she goobled the chicken can down and I tested for the Ketones this morning and got a NEG. reading!!! Her amps was high due to getting into some food early. She seems better since going to twice a day dosing---resting better and not waking me up all hours of the night to eat.

The dose looks high--but to date, I have seen no low numbers. I guess it is true that ECID.

Wishing everyone the best today!

Her forbidden food last night may take a cycle to clear. Also, any infection (can't remember if she had one) will raise bg levels.

We would love to see lower numbers, but with the recent DKA you want to be cautious about changing the dose with other variables present. I would be sure she is eating heartily, be checking for ketones once daily and getting lots of tests in. When everything settles down, we can work at tweaking the dose. My thought is that it might need to come down, since you got better numbers with a lower dose early on. But you don't want to experiment with a lower dose when she is so newly out of the ER.
