Good Saturday Morning to All!

Things went well last night in Kittyville, no near hypos and no high numbers!!!

Kitty is back to her 200 range preshots. Her amps (dosed tid) was 257 this morning-- I shot 3.5 units. She is still drinking a lot, but she seems to feel good. I have her scheduled for blood work on Monday, I am concerned over her kidneys. She has a good appetite and is showing no signs of kidney issues, other than the excessive water intake. But, due to her age, kidney disease is always a strong possibility.

Now, to Sweet Sally (dog)! Yesterday, Sally, dropped into uncomfortably low numbers. She never showed any symptoms of Hypo, but according to the charts, she was very close. I was concerned enough that I used syrup. Last night, her pmps was 388 (I think) and I shot 6 units of N. This morning, her amps was 233-- I shot 5 units. Her food intake is so varied, due to the Pancreatitis, that it is difficult to determine her carb intake. The last two mornings, her amps has been considerably lower than her pmps. I am not sure if that is due to the higher doses at night, due to the higher pmps--- or, if it is because she is not eating during the night. So, for now, I am trying to find a dose that will give us some consisitency on her amps and pmps. Today is the first time I have shot 5 units---maybe this is the dose!!! (I doubt it!!) From everything I have read, it appears she is on a very low dose of insulin--- so maybe, there is still some possibility, that the Diabetes is transient and due to the severe Ptitis. I am joining the doggy diabetes site today, to see if I can get some additional help with Sally.

It is a beautiful warm winter day in NC (63 degrees)-- a tease of spring! Sally, Kitty and I hope everyone has a Great Saturday.......

Morning,

I'm glad you had an uneventful night. cat_pet_icon Good Ms. Kitty for going back to better numbers. Monday's bloodwork should tell you where you are at with her kidneys. Be sure to check out Tanya's CRF site, let me know if you need the link, there is alot of really great information on there to help Ms. Kitty stay comfortable and happy.

I'm happy that you are joining the doggy diabetes site, I'm sure they can give you much more specific info on the differences between cats and dogs.

I'll be looking for an update.

hi kim,
Very glad that miss kitty numbers are back to where they should be!
Must have been scarey with Sweer Sally going so low
It had to be so hard on you,
dont forget to take some time for yourself!

I might have guessed right on Sally's dose....+4 was 115 and +7 was 135! I'm a novice, but I like it!

Kitty +4 was 105, no +7 for her! Getting ready to check mid cycle preshot at +8!

So far, so good today...

It looks like the 5 Units (Humulin N) was a Good Guess for Sally (dog)---her pmps was 278. This is the first time, that her amps and pmps have been in the same range. In fact, the two preshots have been as much as 200 points different prior to today. So, while I am certain that I am not lucky enough for the 5 units (Humulin N) to be the "perfect" dose, it does look like it is much better than the other doses I have tried.

Kitty's midshot preshot (tid)---- 247--- shot 3.5 units. She is still drinking a lot!

I am going to try and get some midcyle tests on both tonight. The three of us are crashed out by the fireplace!

Wait....it was 63 degrees today....and you're crashed out by the fireplace? lol.

Kim, it might not be the perfect dose, but it was the perfect dose for today! Nice numbers all around, glad you've had a calm Saturday,
Carl
