my biggest worry after consulting with Reggie's vet and researching as much as I can is that due to my work schedule I won't be able to follow the recommended 12 hour intervals for his injections, my two days off and my two opening shifts I could stick to the 6a and 6p, on the other three days I could keep the 6a but would not be able to give him the second dose for 16.5 hrs on the other three days, the vet said it wasn't ideal but we could try it, the other worry I have is that everything I read says you have to observe them closely, during my five work days, due to my commute and shift I am gone 9 to 10.5 hours, I want to make this work but I need to know I won't be causing him more discomfort by not adhering to a set schedule, I dont have neighbors or family that can assist so that is not an option. Any suggestions or information would be so greatly appreciated. I'm a wreck and heartbroken trying to figure out what to do.

An in and out insulin like ProZinc or vetsulin will be a little more forgiving of a wonky schedule, although still best to keep as closely as you can to 12 and 12. 6 and 6 of course is perfect, but you can adjust an hour here and there with vetsulin.

A couple of years ago I was on an 8/16 hour schedule on the weekends. My cats were fine and some were using Lantus.
Thank you, that makes me feel like there is a possibility I can make it work.
