I wonder if anybody has a similar experience. We used to leave food in Snickers' bowl all the time so she could eat when she wanted to. Now we have to feed her at certain times. We put wet food in her bowl at bed time, but she gobbles it up as soon as we turn out the lights. Then, every 2 hours like clockwork, she comes into our bedroom and meows until my wife gets up to feed her. We tried closing the door, but she stands out there meowing AND scratching until we get up with her. This has gone on for 3 months or so. We are so short of sleep we almost can't function. I'm a lineman and I don't like playing with high voltage with droopy eyes. Plus my wife is getting very moody from lack of sleep. Any help will be appreciated.

There are lots of people here using them with wet food!!

Some of them even have a place in the bottom where you can put an ice pack....or what some people do is make "cat-sicles" by adding some water to the canned food, putting it into ice cube trays and freezing it....it takes a little time to thaw but provides a "fresh" meal when it does

I have a Petsafe 5 and use it for wet food all the time. There is a comparment under the tray for an icepack, as well as a hollow area under the machine where you can place another ice pack. I posted some pictures in another thread a few months back. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/so-confused-about-insulin.157752/#post-1677201

As for your kitty keeping you awake at night, we had the same problem. Our civvie would scratch at our bedroom door at night, sometimes up to eight times a night and would keep me awake. We tried a lot of different things - ignoring him, playing with him before bed to tire him out, giving him a good meal before bed so he'd be full for awhile, etc, etc, etc and nothing worked. We finally started putting him to bed at night. We're lucky that our living room has french doors, so he gets put in there at night with his litter box and his bedtime meal. He has a bunch of comfy beds to sleep on and we don't hear him all night. It's really saved our sanity. If all else fails, it might be something to look at trying. He didn't appreciate it for the first few nights, but he's adjusted well and now gets upset if someone is in his room too late at night!

I don't know about our cat. We can't make her do anything she doesn't want to do. We tried to get her to sleep with us, that lasts about 5 min. and she's gone. But try to block her from coming IN our room, and she howls. Six a one half dozen of the other with her!

Another devotee of timed feeders here; would be lost without them. Saoirse gets a meal every 2 hours during the night (wet food).

You can try introducing the feeder during the daytime by just putting the food in the compartment and leaving the lid up.

We need to try something. She had us up 3 times last nite. Plus I feed her a little before I go to work in the morning before my wife gets up.
