Today, Kitty completes 365 days since his last shot. After getting insulin for 15 months, he is now OTJ for a full year -- thanks to Lantus Land. flip_cat

Newbies, take heart! I see myself in all of you. When I first got here, I was overwhelmed, scared, afraid to hurt Kitty, afraid not to act. Kitty was getting 10 units ONCE a day, because the vet I trusted didn't know as much as he thought he did. Kitty almost died.

But then I found FDMB and LL, and these wonderful, generous people supported me, informed me, talked me through those late night high numbers (or late night low numbers!). And here we are, alive and well, even OTJ. (It's the alive and well that matters!)

So I want to thank every one of you who makes this site the saving grace for so many kitties. To everyone who didn't laugh at me for HC'ing a 75, to everyone who told me umpteen times what the protocol says, or who posted a picture of a fat .1 and kept me from going crazy measuring those doses, or who encouraged me as we went up the dosing scale, when we so badly wanted to go down...

THANK YOU. My Kitty is alive, and OTJ, because you shared your knowledge and your heart.

Kathy and Kitty, congratulations on ONE YEAR OTJ! Kathy, you helped me with Tessie Lou on her first day in the greens, and I'll always be grateful to you. Maybe someday I can pay it forward and help another newbie. For now, we've only been at it 4 months. Still, you give us hope!

Thank you for the congrats and good wishes, everyone!!!! Lantus Land rocks... as always. Kitty (aka Buzzman - yes, he has more creative nicknames :-D ) thanks you too. He thinks all of YOU are super duper awesome.

P.S. Ann, I really did HC a 75. :oops: And then, before you know it, I was ready to SHOOT a 75! :o Amazing how newbies progress, but true! :lol:

Sandy, thank you. If I had a chance to pay forward one little bit, I would be happy! See Hillary's post? She pulled me out of despair the day I arrived. Hillary, I tried to pass it along!

I still update the master LL spreadsheet, just trying to give back a little. So the next time you see a Roll Call, stop by, say hello and leave your kitty's vital statistics!

I'll always remember you, Kathy. You were the first to respond to my first post here. It was late at night (sound like me, lol?) and I was amazed at how much better I felt just hearing from someone else who had been where I was. The help kept pouring in, but you were my "first" ... haha! Thank you!
 
Janice -- we always remember our first! :lol:

I'm really glad to have been there for the next person, in some small way (i.e., NOT as a dosing "angel" - I really do know my limitations :lol: ). Each of us gives a hand up to the next one. Amazing.

At least in Lantus Land, being an insomniac/night owl is a GOOD thing! :mrgreen:

I can't believe that it has been a year.... I remember you when we first came here, a year and half into our journey. It gives hope to all that visit here that maybe one day it will be their kitty who can sing from the rooftops: OTJ!
