It looks like my gang has developed kitty colds. So far they are only sneezing, there is no mucus and appetites & behavior is normal.

I have started all of them on L-lysine, 500 mg per day. It has been several years since I have had to deal with kitty colds. Is the dose ok? Is there anything else I should be giving them?
 
500 mg/day is a standard doe of L-Lysine. L-Lysine is really only good for the herpes virus. If it gets worse than a vet visit may be in order.
 
is that bought through a vet?
my civvie just started sneezing a few days ago...appetite normal, sleeping a bit more but seems to be in normal mode for everything else, she breathes fine, when she sneezes it just looks like her nose tickles her.


my other cat get this the same time every yr, just a few days of sneezing and he is back to normal
 
as long as she doesnt get worse (which she is getting better in terms of sneezing) should be ok to just let it work its course?
 
unless the cats are getting greenish discharge from eyes or nose, antibiotics wont help. If its just clear discharge, it is possible its seasonal allergies. My Janeway gets a runny eye sometimes but it goes away.
 
molly doesnt have any discharge from her eyes, just a sneezing i think from the mucous in her nose, i assumed this was allergies due to the weather getting quite warm rather quickly recently she is sleeping more though.

her appetite isnt the best but is eating and using litter, do i jsut let it run its course? she doesnt frequent the vet often and ill have to find one for her, and if i can do this at home it will save a trip there.

is there something Over the counter i can get?
 
L-lysine is over the counter. You can find it where the vitamins are. Sometimes health food stores sell the capsules with the powder or just the powder by itself. If you get the pills you will also need a pill crusher to crush them to mix with your cat's food.
 
good to know for the future, she seems to be getting better, no sneezing in a day so far.

so not sure if allergies or what
