Good Morning!
Kitty is still eating! In fact, maybe she is eating TOO much, not to mention the treats she gets after taking her meds! She ate two cans of food last night-- the non friendly everything she has food! I have been testing and shooting bid and this morning she was HI. I shot 3.5 units and will test at +8 to see if I can start her back on tid-- if not, I will dose at 10 hours or when needed. I have been afraid to introduce any "new" foods, as she only seems to like the one. But, this morning I gave her a spoonful of Friskies Turkey and Giblets Special Diet and she did eat it. This would be a much better choice.........IF she will eat it. I could not get an appointment with the cardiologist for 2 more weeks, so I have a call in to the internalist to make an appointment and have her blood work repeated before seeing the Cardio Dr. I think two weeks is too long to wait. The heart meds are not kidney and pancreas friendly, and I don't want to wait too long to see if they need adjusting. She appeared a little dehydrated today and is drinking A LOT. I have never liked giving her bupe and the wonky effect it has on her, so I did reduce that to once a day starting yesterday. If this reduction seems premature and she exhibits any signs of pain-- I will go back to twice a day dosing. She slept on the bed with me last night, and I woke up twice to her purring! I woke up completely to check her and be sure it was purrs of happiness and not distress....but, all seemed Good! She is so frail, but maybe if she continues to eat she will get stronger.
Sir CHEWY checked in at 71 this morning---- 3.5 weeks with NO insulin! This was after 2 cans of food....this is his lowest reading ever, his pancreas must be continuing to heal! I think he wants to stay with me and the girls forever.........I need to see a therapist!
Thanks for the continued good vibes for Kitty--- I am so happy to see her eating, but she has declined so much in just a matter of weeks.
Wishing Everyone a Great Day from Diabetic Alley.....
