Kitty and I are preparing for Irene! I have all necessary supplies for Kitty (insulin, test strips, ketone strips, food, distilled water, etc) --we are expected to start feeling some effects tomorrow night, but Saturday is THE DAY! My beach house is in the Southern Outer Banks--we are expecting a direct hit. Hopefully, it will not be as bad as expected.

Her amps was 333 this morning--I shot 3.5. She has felt good the last couple of days, so we are happy about that. I am actually glad that her preshot is a little higher this morning---I need to give fluids and I don't like to give them when she is in the lower 200s.

Wishing everyone a Great Day!

Re: Kitty 8/24..GO EAST IRENE!

Thoughts and prayers to you and Kitty (and anyone else in the path of Irene).
I'm watching for the storm too, for entirely different reasons, as I'm supposed to work this weekend to install new software for a company that's based in Charlotte and their service territory covers lots of NC. If this storm hits, the install could be cancelled as we can't afford to have the system unavailable when tons of calls will be coming in.

Glad Miss Kitty has been feeling good!

Glad Ms. Kitty is feeling better. Did you get a few supplies for yourself?

Re: Kitty 8/24..GO EAST IRENE!

I have a few supplies, but I am still waiting on my Wine from Nancy!

The11am update just nudged it to the west slightly. Sounds like it all depends on whether she turns 24 to 36 hours from now.if it turns east its going to be at the last minute. Kim please tell us you are nowhere near that beach house?
Go kitty! Soak up those fluids! And Kim get settled somewhere and soak up some "fluids" of your own
stay safe and dry
Carl

I just saw the update also---that is BAD news for both of my locations.

I have completed preparing the beach house--she is on her own! I am also worried about my home if Irene comes inland any (I am very much in the Eastern part of the state)---you just never know where the hurricanes are headed. I am going out now to get gas and ice. The street I live on is lined with 100 year old Oak trees....uggggggg

Nancy.....I am certain Fed Ex can get the wine here by tomorrow...and if there are any posters in Russia--I could also use some vodka!!!!!

So when a hurricane hits land it turns into a tornado? I would be packing the group up and heading for dry land (Arizona sounds good :) and waiting for this whole thing to pass .... because I don't do weather!

Carl, I think she lives 2-3 hours from the beach house but she is still in the path now! If I could run from earthquakes, I would! And what is this us having small quakes? Mother Nature is flexing Her muscles!

I just need an order Kim! This is Napa, you just can't say wine ..... chardonnay, merlot, zinfandel, sirah, etc. these and a million more! this is not red/white wine country :)

GO AWAY IRENE!!!!

As the crow flies---another "southern" saying--- I live about 75 miles inland--East of I95!

Does anyone else say "as the crow flies" for the reference of a straight line? Or is that Southern?

They say it here too. I thought it was northern.

Oh and the blind pig/ear of corn saying, here they say squirl instead, "even a blind squirl finds a nut once in a while".

I'm familiar with "as the crow flies". Of course, living on the KY/OH border, I don't know if I'm southern or not.

Better watch out! the Napa Valley Chamber of Commerce is very vigilant about people casting aspersions on the valley :)

No good sayings here...Im just from Jersey

Kim, glad you are stocked up and not at the beach...
but wine is a must in a hurricane!
Also please make sure to have some sort of back up just in
case you cant get out for a while!

Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers!

Denise and Shakes

I'm 5th generation North Floridian and we say "as the crow flys" too.
Please stay East Irene!
Irene is not to come ashore here but it still makes me nervous, sometimes they do totally unexpected things when they slow down. My mother said when she was a child, they sometimes would come in on the Gulf coast near Cedar Key, eye would go inland right over them, then out to Atlantic near Jacksonville, regain strength, turn around and pass over the state again.
Stay safe Kim and Kitty! (And your other furbabies and family)
We are starting to get some heavy downpours and wind gusts this afternoon.

Stay safe, everyone! We lived in the FL Panhandle for a while and I grew up on the East Coast, so I do not like hurricanes! Or earthquakes for that matter (lived in S. Cal for a while too). You guys have been through the wringer lately! So GO EAST, Irene!!!!

Hope it spares your beach house Kim! I'm afraid Ocracoke may be a goner this time and I'm really worried about the horses in Corolla!

Go away Irene!

Well, there is no dodging this one.

Ice is running out, lines at gas stations......

I am just hoping that there is no more westward movement. The last two updates have moved it west....That is bad for everyone from NC to Maine.

Oh well....

Go Away Irene grumpy_cat

Go away Irene!! angry(2)_cat cat(2)_steam

Arizona is sounding better and better ....... see this is the difference between easterners and us in the west! If we could run from earthquakes, wildfires and floods .... we would!!!

I cancelled my east end of LI vacation. Hope we all surf this out without too much difficulty. They are talking about shutting down all public transportation in nyc over the weekend. GET LOST, IRENE!!! angry(2)_cat grumpy_cat grr_red

Sorry you had to cancel your trip Judy but better safe than sorry! Everything is shutting down here for sure starting tomorrow.

Go away Irene! grumpy_cat :-Q
