Okay--so what is going on? Last night pmps was 333--I shot 3 units. She slept well during the night, purring--not waking me up to eat etc.-- she did get me up about 4 am (2.5 hours before amps--and I gave her one teaspoon of LC FF). I check her this morning and boom....527!

She got fluids yesterday 2.5 hours before the insulin--would anyone think that would have any effect of dilluting the insulin?

To make matters more interesting--my meter continued to give me a E-1 message--strips defected. It took 5 test to get one to read. So, wondering if the strips were okay, I checked myself--112 (I might need to watch the carbs also!)
So, I think the meter probably read correctly.

I shot 3.2 this morning.

Any suggestions? I hate these High numbers and was hoping we were getting away from them.

Frustrated this morning!!!!

Good news--she has the 5 P's going on!

We have been on 3 units for 2 weeks now. The 3.2s were just given on higher readings. I called the vet and she suggested going back to 3.5. My regular vet is out of the country--so, this was a "substitue".

I don't know what to do. I want to say I will see what the pmps is--but, last night that was 333 (I was feeling okay with that) and then this morning 527.

I don't think that I'd just jump to 3.5u, maybe stick to 3.2 and get another curve in this weekend.

If I'm remembering right, she has arthritis? If so, I know mine has been acting up like crazy the last couple of days, so pain may also be driving up the numbers.
I sort of remember that the vet left w/o giving you prescription. Do you have anything that she can take? I'm clueless on this for cats, and I'm using patches since my stomach isn't up to oral meds.

Since she saw blues the other day, it is possible that the 500 amps is a slight bounce from a lower than usual number. I wouldn't raise just yet until you can get another curve, or a few spot checks in.

I don't think the fluids would 'dilute the insulin' like you are thinking. There is still the same amount in her system, so it shouldn't matter. I don't think I have ever seen a kitty where fluids raised numbers. I have only seen it lower numbers - which could make her go lower than those blues the other day and cause a bounce.
 
I would stick with 3.2, and if you get a PS below 350 I would get in an early to mid cycle spot test (+3 - +6) to try to see what is going on.
 
I think pain from Henry's arthritis and spinal disc problems raise his numbers at times.
He can only take 1/2 a baby aspirin every 3 days and usually the next day after he has it the night before he gets better numbers. We tried the Cosaquin for about 2 days and got a zoom in numbers; it has Glucosamine in it and for humans glucosamine can raise BG values, so I assume it could do the same in kitties?
Hope you can get something that will help Kitty's arthritis pain.
 
I'm giving Harley Adaquan injections for his arthritus and it has really helped. He used to walk around slowely very stiff legged. Tonight he was racing up and down the hallway, I loved it.
