Kitten you are driving me crazy (too low PM dosing advice)

So this morning I was resigned to having to stay higher on his doses with a 376 and a 305 at +6. What happens tonight he gives me a PMPS of 132 (212 on the alpha trak). I have decided to use the AT as a confirmation on either "low or high" numbers. I'm waiting 20 minutes and plan to test again to see if he is rising. I know he is likely having a late Nadir, I'm thinking 1u or 1.5 units if he is on the rise. Thoughts.

He and Wynken are in the exact same place tonight... 150 would be a nice number and yes, one unit sounds good to me, as long as you can get a before bed test....

That was a big jump. If you're worried he will be high tomorrow, you could give 1.5. You gave that yesterday morning for a similar number.

Bama's BG started to go wonky late November/early December and she would frequently jump 100+ points in an hour. I wouldn't assume that Fern had a fur shot based solely on the jump you saw. Can you do some additional tests tonight to see if the insulin is having any effect?

I am unfamiliar with your kitty so I am just pulling from my own personal experiences here... Has Fern had any symptoms of pancreatitis? Turns out Bama's wonky numbers were due to pancreatitis. Her PrecisionPSL test by her primary DVM came back normal but her Pancreatic Lipase test by an internist came back high indicating chronic pancreatitis. Due to the pancreatitis Bama's body frequently responds differently to the same amount of insulin and her PS numbers are over the place.

I'm also curious how Fern is healing up from his dental procedure. Was/is his pain being managed well? Pain can certainly cause higher and inconsistent BG readings. I don't have any experience with tooth extractions so I am unfamiliar with the recovery period.

Overall I think Fern is recovering well from the dental. He shows no sign of pain. He does still have some "disposable" stitches in his mouth which could be annoying to him. He goes in for a check up next weekend and I'm bringing my SS with me to discuss.

As far as the fur shot, I did it after the 2nd reading. So it is not indicative of a FS. From his previous low numbers I fully expect to have a higher number at +2-3 no matter what.

I'm seeing kind of the same pattern from before his dental that shows an overall downward trend I think (maybe its just hope).

He shows no sign for pancreatitis as far as I can see. He has maintained a very healthy appetite though all of this. The only times he seems to go on a hunger strike is when he's at the vets and they gave him vet food when he was initially diagnosed. (I brought food for him at his dental because of this). I think part of his rollercoster might be because he was diagnosed for a relatively long time. (maybe up to 5 months).

Wynken and Fern may have colluded on their sugar patterns....

I know my boy goes sky high after eating so I gave pretty well a normal dose for a blue number... But he popped right back up! Predictable... An hour and a half later he was at almost 370.
