I'm going to the hospital tomorrow so I left my cat at the vet until Sunday. injects caninsulin. we talked with the doctor to either increase his units (he is doing 2) or try lantus. I told her I prefer lantus. I hope I made the right decision
Maria is boarding her cat in a clinic that closes at 21:00, with no staff around until 9:00.
They are going to switch to Lantus, which is good.
Current dose of Caninsulin is 2u.
What would be safe for King under the circumstances? What do you think?
Hi Yanna. Looks like King bounces from yellow as well as blue. It will take 5-7 days for the depot to build. I’m thinking 4.0 or 4.5 but would like to see what others think so I will tag a couple. Bron is sleeping now but will be on later, @Wendy&Neko@Bron and Sheba (GA)
Can you clarify whether she’s been giving 5 like on the ss or 2 units?
which syringes were being you with Caninsulin? U40 or U100? Would need to be converted to find the equivalent I am told. Will King eat well at the vet’s? A ll this needs to be taken into consideration when choosing a beginning dose of Lantus.
She's been giving 5u of Caninsulin with u100 syringe (vet's 1 instructions)
According to the conversion chart, that's 2u caninsulin assuming she used a u40 syringe
Are the calculations right?
Vet 2 will keep King in her clinic until Sunday, she's going to switch to Lantus. The clinic is open 9:00 - 21:00, no one around to monitor King after they close.
