Sprocket went to specialist yesterday.
We left thinking we had injectible prednisolone and we got home and it was dexamethasone.
googling....
says its stronger than pred.
watch for heart issues. & liver.
a trial article said glucose went higher than with pred...ok

So is this better for a diabetic or not?
Anyone use this?
I am freaking out cause vet never said it was different. $175 for what??
help
vets are calling back soon
Dont know what to do??

I had a cat on dexamethasone for two years for another health issue and she handled it well. She wasn't diabetic and it didn't trigger diabetes in her. I agree with Chris. Your goals are different now. You want Sprocket to feel well for as long as possible.

The vet called back. Told me its similar to prednisolone but that would need 1ml injection and the dexamethasone only needs 0.4ml since its stronger to get equiv to the pred.
ok we are starting it tonight.
he is very quiet today so far but he was exhausted with the vet visit as it was the more stimulated I had seen him in weeks.
pray it works.

I also created a fb group for him to allow people to follow & give me support plus I want to document his journey as I want to write about him later.
Its called Sprockets Journey 2019
if anyone would like to join.

Ming had one injection of dexamethasone in hospital during his last pancreatitis flare up and DKA episode. His BG was high aaaallll the time in hospital with dramatic dips at night time (but the IM specialist was also giving crazy weird doses that differed night and day).

Basically, what I wanted to say is: Ming got the injection. The staff at the vet noticed a positive change in his clinical signs. Granted, this was for pancreatitis and not for lymphoma.

I hope Sprocket benefits from the injection :) Anytbing to make him feel better is positive.
