Keziah went back to the Cat Clinic today. Her blood sugar showed on the glucometer as Low. A bit scary, although she appeared to be fine, so they gave her some sub-q dextrose which would be absorbed slowly over the remaining time the insulin was in her body. During the upcoming month, I will observe her for any signs of diabetes re-emerging, in which case I will take her back to the Cat Clinic; otherwise, she will go back in approximately 1 month to be re-tested. In the event she would go on insulin again, I will be trained to take her blood sugars at home. For the present, at least, she is doing great!

Good news!

Because she has had issues, keeping her on low carb food, and using some of the tools in my signature link Secondary Monitoring Tools, will help you track her health.

If you learn to hometest, you'll have the most accurate method for home monitoring. We can teach you how here.

Be vigilant in checking the teeth for infection; its a common cause of relapse.

Glad to hear this. It'll make your life easier for sure. Keep the cat on the low carb diet.

Excellent news!
Remission (diet-controlled diabetes) can last weeks, months or years, so you're right - it is important to remain vigiliant. Hopefully, on the right diet of low carb wet food, Keziah's remission will last furrever!
