I did it twice and waited 30 seconds.Did you check it after the 15 seconds? As it sets it will get darker. Just want to make sure. If it is trace, try to get another sample as soon as you can. I believe if it goes above trace you need to get her to an ER vet.

Both trace and the tip of the strip really didn't change color. It kind of starts off in the trace range. Should I give her some dry? I know carbs can help.Did they both read trace?
@Kris & Teasel Is it ok I suggested she try to get another test sample when Pia has to pee again? Can't really force her in like another hour![]()
It's possible that waiting 30 seconds has compromised the test. Wait only 15 seconds and view the strip in really good light. Negative and trace are very close in colour, with trace being a tiny bit pinker than negative. One thing you can do right away is to add enough warm water to all her wet food meals. Good hydration is important. Is she eating well and feeling well? Both trace and the tip of the strip really didn't change color. It kind of starts off in the trace range. Should I give her some dry? I was watching the whole time. From 0 seconds to 30. Didn't change at all. She eats well and drinks from her water bowl. No nausea. Eating less than before the diagnosis, but that's because she loves dry food and just kind of likes wet. She's starting to like it more and more. It's possible that waiting 30 seconds has compromised the test. Wait only 15 seconds and view the strip in really good light. Do you mean that the colour stayed the same as when freshly urine moistened? Are you certain about your judgment of the colour?I was watching the whole time. From 0 seconds to 30. Didn't change at all.
I checked the whole time. As soon as she peed from 0 seconds to 30. Stayed the same color the whole time.Definitely try add 1 or 2 Tablespoons of warm water to her wet food, to make it like a thick stew consistency. If the strip didn't change at all it's probably negative. A nice bright white light might help you get a better look. As Kris said, negative and trace are pretty close in colour. Also, check if you are supposed to do reading after 15 seconds. That's what most seem to be.![]()
If her test was the same colour as yours, it's probably OK. Do add warm water to the food though. It's a good way to get extra into them.I just tested myself. I'm the same color as Pia and I should not be in ketosis. I just carbo loaded. Idk if that helps. The neg and trace color are so close.
Yes. My bf checked as well. The color didn't change from the original color. But the strip starts off looking like the trace color. It stayed the same color from dry to wet.Do you mean that the colour stayed the same as when freshly urine moistened? Are you certain about your judgment of the colour?
Probably OK.I checked the whole time. As soon as she peed from 0 seconds to 30. Stayed the same color the whole time.
Identical. If her test was the same colour as yours, it's probably OK. Do add warm water to the food though. It's a good way to get extra into them.

Hahaha.Lol...you crack me up. Sounds like it was a false alarm. Either that or y'all are having ketones together. The family that pees together...stays together...or something like that!
