Ketone Strips?

Urine ketons strips? I used to have a small plastic cup ready, next to each litter box, and I would wait until my boy started peeing. Then, I would go to him slowly with the plastic cup and hold it under his stream. You don't need a lot of urine. I would take the sample back to my bottle of test strips which was under a clock that has a second hand, take one out, dip the test strip into the pee, take it out, and wait the 15 seconds by looking at the clock, then compare the test strip to the key on the outside of the bottle.
The blood ketone test strips are different. Which kind do you have?
 
I just bought ReliOn ketone test strips at Walmart and have yet to use them. Dudley was just diagnosed a week ago, so I'm just getting my bearings on all this. Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a shot. Aida
 
mine would never let me get close to her while in her box.... I got my samples by covering the box completely with a trash bag.... stalking so I could here when she went.... ( always after we went to bed) and would go test it immediately.
 
I might try something like that. Dudley does his 'evening constitutional' just after supper.
 
I don't know if boy cats are different, but I think once J.D. started, he couldn't just stop, and I would wait until he started and then just go to him and get my sample. Good luck.
