Ketone Strips - hard to tell 0 or Trace?

So I've done it 3 times today (we had a fur shot and he's running high so plenty of opportunity), and at each time, it's probably closer to 0 than trace (ie brown not pink) but it's not so emphatically brown - which it usually is when I test him.

Anyone else experienced this?

He's still eating well, and no other issues at the moment. I'll try not to panic.... yet :)
 
I find that the colour difference between zero and trace on my Keto-Diastix is quite hard to distinguish as well. I do my best by waiting precisely 15 seconds for a result and then viewing the strip under bright light.
