Karo saved Misty’s life today

Hi folks,
Well her little highness Misty is harassing her big brothers and is sitting atop her highest perch counting cars for our town. She also is looking at the bird feeder hungrily. We don’t have much history on her but I am guessing she was an outdoor kitty until now.
She seems to reach her nadir between +7 - +9. I will do another curve this week. She does not have any symptoms of anything. I am so grateful for that.
As always thank you .

Hi folks,
what an eventful morning. When I got home from work Misty was great. She tested 76 at +9 and 177 at amps. I gave her her shot and food and went to bed. A few hours later my wife woke me because she was convulsing and I grabbed the Karo. Her number shot Lo on the relion on meter. I rubbed karo on her gums waited a few minutes. This didn’t work well. I called my Vet and kept rubbing karo on her gums. Then I injected some in her butt. Talked to her and rubbed some more on her gums and down her throat. This is all while driving to my Vet. She finally started purring and opened her eyes. She went from unresponsive to responsive with the help of dark karo syrup. My Vet was impressed. Her number at the Vet was 50. She gave her glucose and a covenia shot. We monitored her until she was 99.
We are home now and she is still going up. She just ate a bowl of candy (gravy food) and is passed out purring in my lap. I am so grateful for the low numbers post being available to me this morning. I called in sick and will stay with her tonight.
I am unsure how to chart this on my SS though. Any help with that would be appreciated.
Forever grateful one more time.
Linda

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Way too much drama to start the day! Good catch.:eek: I think I'd skip tonight's dose and drain that depot. That 76 overnight had earned her a reduction down to 0.25 units. Today just added to that.

What part do you need help charting with? You can put notes in the Remarks about the karo and glucose at the vet.

Hi Wendy,
It was way to much drama. She really looked dead for a while.
So I will add it to her SS in the comments. My Vet suggested starting at .10 and to not shoot till she is naturally in the 300’s again. She does however know how great your advice has been over the years. I hate being so busy that my focus is off. I didn’t catch she had earned a reduction.

I think I'd buy into that 0.1 unit dosing too. Much easier to increase than decrease with drama. I suspect she will bounce to the moon but I might still skip tonight in spite of it. Shades of Scooter.

Yes! It’s because of Scooter I felt confident in treating Misty. This however was worse than Scooter. I agree about the bounce. I am so happy to have sick time at work so I can be here for it.

+14 326 and the bounce has begun. She is resting hard right now with a very full belly of fancy feast pâté. So content with life.
Now if anyone knows the best way to remove karo syrup from fur please let me know. :)

Oy, karo in fur! Mine spilled in the cabinet and I didn’t know it. It was like glue. Took so long to get rid of it and a wine bottle was stuck so tight.

I googled it. Olive oil or peanut butter!
