Just When You Thought You Knew Things...

So, my Tiger is my third sugar baby. First one, Max, I didn't know about the forum and rarely tested blood sugar. Second, Tyler, I found this wonderful forum and tested and closely adjusted dose. Now, with Tiger, I am having some issues.

A nice member made me a spreadsheet for Tyler, and I tried, but never figured out how to use it. I wrote everything down in a journal.

My issues with Tiger are that I am finding WILD swings in his readings, and to make it harder, just switched monitors as I couldn't find rest strips for my old relion monitor. I have a new Relion Premier Classic. It said his sugar was basically too high to read once (!) and I have had it as low as 31.

I am open to ideas. If anyone would talk my tech unsavy self thru making and using a spreadsheet, I am open to trying again. (I presently only have smart phone and a Chromebook).

He looks better, but his sugar is often reading in the 400-500s, and Tyler usually never went above 300.

I'm tagging Bhooma (@Bandit's Mom) who can give you help with your spreadsheet. However, it looks like you already have a spreadsheet linked in your signature. It's a slightly older version or it may be one that someone "borrowed" from us. Some of the borrowed spreadsheets are not terribly functional. Bhooma may be able to tell.

This is a link to information on how to use the spreadsheet. The basics are as follows:

• AMPS and PMPS are the test results from the morning and evening before you give your cat his insulin injection. They are abbreviations for AM Pre-Shot and PM Pre-Shot.
• The numbers across the top (i.e., +1, +2, +3.....+11) represent the number of hours after the insulin shot. If you get a test result at 6 hours after an injection, that's your +6.
• The column labeled "U" represents the dose or Units of insulin.

Without benefit of a spreadsheet, I'd be reticent to offer any suggestions about dosing. Your meter should hold about 2 weeks worth of test data or you can transfer a week or two of information from your journal to the spreadsheet. Seeing Tiger's numbers will help enormously.

The phone works fine for filling in a SS but not for creatings one. I do not know if a Chromebook can do either. As Sienne already said, someone can create a SS that you can use to enter data.
