Attitude is everything. You have to know it has to be done for his safety and health and project that to him. That you really are in charge (contrary to what most cats believe....LOL)

If when it's time to test you think to yourself "Oh no...here I go torturing my cat again", he's going to pick up on it. Cat's are incredible at picking up what we're sending out and responding in kind.

As hard as it is, try to relax, take a few deep cleansing breaths, put a smile in your heart and just do it! When it's "nothing" to you, it'll be "nothing" to him too!

Thanks, doing my best to be tender and loving. He gets that, but he also tries to run away LOL. No fooling him. He's angry with me!!! But I will keep trying!

Tender and loving may not be the best right now. Of course I'm not suggesting you manhandle your cat, but you need to go into this with the attitude "this is for your own good so this is what's going to happen"

Don't know if you have any children, but there are many times that kids have to do something they don't want to do because it's what's best for them. No kid "likes" vaccinations, but as their mother, you know it's best for them....so while they might cry and protest, you have to hold firm. They don't stop loving you (and an ice cream cone goes a long way in getting forgiven quickly....LOL)

Always remember, you're doing this because you love him and want to keep him safe as well as alive as long as possible. You're not doing it to hurt him.

I had a friend come over today, and I paid her to wash the dishes, clean the kitchen a bit, and do a few other things around the house. She did an energetic clearing too. I'm going to have her twice a week for a while, just for morale. Can't really afford it, but what are emergencies for after all! Squeaky and I were both glad to have some company for a while. Thank you for your helping me think clearly about this!
