Hi All,

I know that this is a very basic question, but I am new to this, so better ask than be sorry- right? :)

The AMPS is taken BEFORE the cat eats breakfast, right? Test, then feed, then shoot- right? Or does the order not matter much?

Thanks,

Eva

Yes, you have got it right! We always shot as we fed, so the last two were combined - but Oliver was always going to eat. Make sure she is eating or has eaten before you shoot. But you want a number that isn't influenced by any kind of food rise.

Eva, always test first before eating and shooting. Food can make the bg go up but.......if the cat ,for some reason, is still working on a long duration, can happen, then food may not bring them up enough. Test, then make sure kitty eats, then shoot. Lately with Mishka, I test a good hour before her normal time so I can tell what the heck she is doing for that day. Then when I do her normal test I can look back and see if she is still going down or on her way back up. She's playing games with my mind lately

It matters if you have a hungry cat who won't sit still for testing! I always used to let Boo eat first and then tested him about 10 minutes later. It made the whole process easier on both of us.

The only truly important step is to make sure that they've eaten before giving the shot.

I have a multicat household who all will trip me and not let me do anything without being fed the moment I'm up. Tucker gets fed and tested within just a couple of minutes of eating. I've tried to test him first, but everyone circling my feet makes it impossible.
