Hi there! I just popped over to see how everyone here in PZI-ville is doing. I miss you all.

Ruby is being Ruby, as usual. We have some good days, we have some not as good days and she'll throw the curveball at me now and then.
She's getting a dose increase again tonight because she's just being stubborn and won't stay consistent for more than a day or two.

Hope you all are doing well!

Hey, Amy (and Ruby, too!)-

So glad you dropped by to see us  Hershey is same old Hershey. Went hypo on me two weeks ago tomorrow and then again this morning. I guess he thought I was getting comfortable or something. I hope you met some nice people in the Lantus group, but we miss y'all here. Pop in anytime

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

Ru's had more stretches of blues & greens on the Lantus than she did on PZI, but she still bounces like a super ball.

I know that's not funny, but it sure did paint a funny picture in my head! I'm sorry she bounces. Hershey has the same problem; I wish his body would listen when I tell him those lower numbers are okay and he doesn't have to try for higher ones

I was having one of my meltdowns the other day and was bawling my head off in the middle of the night. She was on my lap so the tears were dripping on her head. She shake them off then glare at me. So I told her if she didn't get it in control, I'd keep crying on her and getting her head wet. :-D It worked for a couple of days, the SPROING, right back up.

Guess you'll have to switch up your method of 'bringing her into compliance' - yeah, as if we could ever get THEM to comply with our plans!

I try to get tough with her and she pulls out those sad kitty eyes and headbutts me on the chin.
Forget it! I'm toast!

Hi Amy
I remember looking at your SS a couple weeks back and being so happy to see Ruby down to .25u and it looked like things were going great, and then she decided to throw you a few curveballs! It looks like every time you change her dose, she responds well for the first few cycles, and then she gives you pinks and occasional reds. I don't really "get lantus" and it just frustrates the crap out of me, and I'm sure you are feeling that way at times too. I've looked at some LL spreadsheets and it looks like what Ru is doing happens to a lot of kitties. They go down in steps, then back up in steps. It is helpful that the protocol gives you logical steps to follow. Just frustrating following the steps! It does look like she has good days with Lantus though, and even when you get down and frustrated, try to focus on the good days.

At times it's so difficult & frustrating. At times I look at Baxter & will just cry too. FD is heart breaking.
Just keep your head up....keep looking forward!

:YMHUG: for both of you.

Honestly, PZI was just as frustrating for me. She really wasn't any more or less consistent on it, she's just had a few more blues and greens since we switched than she did before. I just don't understand why nothing seems to work. She gets fed at the same times, every day. None of her food is over 4%. She basically self regulates her eating. She'll eat about 1/2 of it as soon as I give it to her, a snack around +5/+6 and then another one around +9. I take the food bowls up at +10 so she doesn't get a food spike right before I take her PS tests. I give her the shots at the same times every day, 6:15 AM and PM. There is no dry food left in the house. She and Midgie eat the same thing and they very, very rarely eat out of each other's bowls.

She has lost some weight in the past month. I worry a bit because I don't know if its good weight loss or bad weight loss.

I tell my self we've only been doing this dance for 87 days. Its still early in the game. So we muddle thru. One of these days we'll get it right. But I honestly didn't expect the emotional roller coaster that this has been.

Hi Amy,

Glad you stopped by. I'm pretty sure the emotional roller coaster come with each insulin  . But it sounds like Ruby is doing better overall.

Hang in there.
