Okay here are the rules:

You must include all your cats, civies included.

If you changed their names after you adopted them what was the original name and why did you change it.

What other names do you call them by other than their "official" name.

Okay, got it?

GO!!!

Alska came to me as Snoball. He obviously did not recognize that as his name so my BF looked up the words for love in Swedish and there was a name I could live with. You see, if I let the BF be invested in some way in the cat, he is more willing to help out when needed. I can now ask him to stop by and give Alska his shot if I am not able to get home. He also named Bing which is great because now he comes over and clips Bing's claws for me.

He didn't name Brio (Brioche-named by his French godmother) or Emmylou (who was Emmit until the vet told me that that would not work) so he has absolutely no relationship with them.

See - I know what I'm doing

KT - KT was 'Katy' when we saw each other for the first time...Technically his name is "Mr. KT" - "Missouri Kansas Texas (aka 'Katy' Railroad)". 'Katy' didn't fit his plumbing. He rode 120 miles trapped in the brake control box of a train to get 'home'! He's also 'Biggest Boy' (DH's pet name for him), Pook, PooKitty, Mama's BigBoyKitty.

Snowshoe - originally "CIC-1813" at shelter, Snowball when he first came home, Snowshoe when he'd been here a couple of days. It just fit. Snow because he's white (w/black spots) and shoe because he LOVED shoestrings. Now he's 'Snow' or 'ShuShu'. He actually 'mistaked' his way 'home' as I KNOW he was MEANT to be here - there was another FEMALE that had the same spots, someone thought they were the same cat. Both went to vet to be 'fixed' as CIC-1813, Snow1813 was brought to PetSmart adoption altho' the Petfinder pic showed the OTHER1813. When I got there, Snow was rolling around on his back, looked straight at me and I swear said "Hey, what TOOK you so long? Let's go Home". We did.... :-D

Leo - originally Lilly at his first home but THAT plumbing didn't fit either. When I found him after his bean moved and left him, he immediately became 'Leo' due to his intense stare reminding me of Leo the Lion. It changed from Leo to Lebo, then to LeboTebo then 'Bebo'. Also our 'little red-headed freckle face baby'. 'Bebo' is my mother's 'Grandmother' name by 2 of my nieces - Mother is red headed with freckles too... :-D

Dakota - Dakota was called 'Cody' most of his life prior to joining us. One of my sons as well as grandsons are named Cody, would get quite confusing...he became 'Doc'. Of course it couldn't just stay 'Doc', it evolved to Docker, DockerDo, DockerDoodle, DocBo....also 'Mr. Handsome' which was Ronda's nickname for him.

Pepper - she's all black, first she was 'Ink' but that didn't stick, she became 'PepperCorn', shortened to Pepper, PepPep, Mama's bootiful black girl, that's about all of hers.

Tiger Lily - when she showed up at about 6 weeks old, she seemed to 'answer' to LittleOne. LittleOne became Lily, the 'Tiger' because she's a little bitty striped tabby American shorthair with HUGE eyes. She's also 'sweet girl'. She doesn't have many substitute names.

Moochie - started as 'Boots' when I took her away from previous owners but 'Boots' found another home quickly. Suddenly we had another little tux shortly afterwards show up that didn't want to be wild...WOW, she looks a LOT like Boots...imagine that! BUT this one has white whiskers on a bit longer boots - don't you remember that Boots had BLACK whiskers and short boots? Surely you do! She was now 'Moochie', Mookie, Mooch, MooMoo... :-D

Spike - when Spike showed up at about 6-7 weeks old, he had the BIGGEST ears I'd ever seen on a bitty kitten. MeanBeans adopted him, named him then didn't treat him well....he adopted US within a couple of months. He's always been an outside cat altho' we enclosed and rebuilt our front porch to give him a safe warm place. He quickly became 'Doodle Bug' as that fit much better than 'Spike'. Now he's 'SpikerDoodle', FuzzyButt, GrayStripedKitty,

Oh well... nicknames. You had to ask...

See I call all of them "my puppies" or "puppy" because when they were young I called them kittens but now my BF says that I can't call them kittens anymore so I call them puppies  Guess I showed him!

and then each one has a song...

♫ It's a world of chaos, a world of fun... it's a Bing world after all ♪
with lots of verses like: ♫ All my towels are in shreds, do they make kitty meds, it's a Bing world after all ♪

Alska my love....♪ (Lara's theme from Dr. Zhivago)

Okay my list is as follows and yes I have to number them so I don't miss anyone. lol

1. Lord Maxwell Fenix: original just Max renamed because Max is a common shelter name and I had previously owned a Max, so to separate the two he became Maxwell, added the Lord because of his regal personality and Fenix (pronounced Phoenix) for the mythical bird that rises from the ashes of its own death because he was pulled just hours before euthanasia...a.k.a. Maxie, MacMac, Big M, Big Mac, Maxie Doodle, Doodle Bug and Circus Peanut.

2. Autumn: original Lulu/BooBoo. renamed because she is neither a little girl with a big afro or a mistake. She is however the colors associated with fall/ Autumn. a.k.a. Love Dove because she coos when cuddling..Pumpkin, Pumpkin Pie and Pretty Girl.

3. Amon Ra: Named for the Egyptian Sun God because of his golden coat and his sister was already named Isis. a.k.a. Ra,Ra Ra, Ra Rum, Rummy, Rum Tum and His Meowjesty.

4. Bert: original named Bandit because he was a clepto as a kitten. renamed himself Bert. a.k.a. Be Bert and Shredder because he has a fetish for eating paper.

5. Casper: because he's a friendly ghost. Very sweet and loving if he knows you, disappears around strangers, loves to pop out from behind things to scare the other cats. a.k.a. Mr C and Prince Caspian.

6. Patches: Just the name he came with. a.k.a. Podly, Pudgly, Peapod. Pudger, Patches The Paw

7. Angel Eyes named for a song on the radio when I first rescued her and as a joke in the beginning because she was anything but an angel. Now because she loves shoulder rides so she is the Angel on my shoulder. a.k.a none

8. Sophia: original named Saphira renamed for her violet grey eyes. a.k.a. Soph, Sofapia, Sofa

9. Tre'Vona:Tolkien Elvish for Sister to Many. a.k.a. Tre, TreTre, Tsarina Tre'Vona in a Russian accent.

10. Myrrdin: gaelic for Merlin. original named Elektra until he magically became a male.. a.k.a Merdy, Merman and The Sh*tten because he has the mentality of a 6 month old kitten due to being a revived still born.

11.Duvessa gaelic for Dark Beauty because she has a pure black face although she is a tuxedo. a.k.a. Duvey duvey do. Vessa, Vessa poo

12. Hazy because she is deaf she tends to wander around in a haze..a.k.a Smoochie Moochie, The Moocher, sweet pea

13. Arabella: No clue DH took one look at and proclaimed her name was Arabella. a.k.a. Bright Eyes and Miss Ruba Ruba

14. Lady Jane Grey: original named Fizgig horrible name for a girl. tried to change it to Nimbus because she was soft as a cloud. Later to current name. Lady because she bonded to Lord Maxwell Jane for 3 of the longest living cats on this board at the time of her adoption to bless her with a long life and grey for her color... Also for the English Queen who was known as the 9- day queen.. a.k.a. Janie, Janie mouse, Janie bear

Mel, Maxwell, Autumn and The Fur Gang

Cats owned by my mom & me circa 1977-1980/81:
Missy - long haired white persian with blue eyes, was deaf and came with the name
Holly - tuxedo; we adopted these two shortly before christmas 1977, hence "holly"

My dad's cats, 1983-1998:
Cosmo - my step mom liked this name the cat was black & white
Weejun - brown tiger that my dad named after a shoe made by Bass
Simba - marmalade and white long hair that my sister originally named Rosie when she thought he was a girl...
Sammy - my dad's black cat

My cats:
Midora (1992-2005) - she was named after Japanese figure skater Midori Ito, who won the silver medal at the 1992 winter games; nickname sniff, sniffer
Cedric (2005-2013) - I adopted Cedric from the SPCA and he came with this name. I was looking for a female and didn't have any male names in mind, so he kept the name he came with from his prior family; he was 7 mo old and they must have had the mom, as he came to the shelter with 2 sisters; nickname sweet ums
Dallas - ex-stray that doc estimated was born in 2008. When he was a stray coming to my back porch for food, I decided to name him like Venita's Ennis (who he resembles) after a Phillie. I chose to name him "Dallas" after Dallas Greene, the manager of the 1980 world champion philadelphia phillies. "Dallas" the TV show is also a fav of mine (the original on CBS) and I have family that is from Dallas, PA. The name stuck. His nickname, which isn't used much, is moomoo, as he is black and white like the cows on my great grandparent's farm...

Mel-you definitely win the prize for such elaborate and well, thought-out names. Goodness. I like the Angel on your shoulder

..and Casper. That's a good and appropriate name. I had one like that - wish I had thought of it. And then your Haze, oh my goodness... that is very funny

Jesse - I am so glad you kept the name Cedric. I really liked that name and it attracted me to your condos on him. I also liked that Alska was hanging out with a Lucian, Cedric and Autumn. Such distinguished names...

Lyresa - That is so funny that Ronda called Dakota Mr. Handsome because she brought on a new foster after Dakota went to his forever home with you, and calls him Dr. Watson.

I never got to know my kitties really well before naming them. The only really apropos name I ever gave was to Ansel, because he was black and white.

Thanks Mel- this is fun!

It wouldn't take so long to play this game if I didn't have so many.....

Pewter Boy – came to me as Shorty. It wasn’t at all appropriate for he was tall and long for a cat. His coloring has given him his name since he is white with pewter grey markings. Sometimes he is also Puter Boy.

Sorianna – When she arrived, she had the name Sorianna from birth. To it we have added Princess Sorianna, Fancy Pants, or Sori Sue. Most of the time she is just Sori. Fancy Pants refers to the bloomers she sports along with her gorgeous vivid calico Norwegian coat.

Makita – Came with his name. We think his name reflects his very loud purr which can sound like the Makita saws. Called Kita Ku. and sometime Mr Mac by the friendly petsitter.

Garamond – Came from a shelter with the name Armond and a birthdate of 1999. Obviously, the date was wrong and I didn’t think the name suited him. So changed it to Garamond and call him Grey Man most of the time.

Marble – He is interesting. Born in my house in July of 2004 to the last Litter Jezebel had. So I named him for his swirling black markings on his white coat. He went to a rescue to be adopted, and they discovered a heart murmur. In 2010, I adopted him back into my home. He is very skittish with humans, but loves all the cats in the house including the kittens. No nickname – just Marble. He is my only adult civie.

Cardinal – Came to me from a vet as an owner surrender because of his diabetes. They told me his name was Peanut. I couldn’t get him to respond to his name. At 13, I really didn’t want to rename him. It was Halloween weekend of 2011 and the Cardinals were winning the World Series. Since he is a deep orange (red) and white Maine Coon, I tried Cardinal and he responded. So Cardinal he is! Or Cardy.

Waz – This little girl is coal black with gold eyes, and her name is actually Wedding Anniversary Salem. But, I call her Waz. She was posted at risk on a local rescue board on my 50th anniversary. Two days later in early May this year, I adopted her. Then I set about finding another orphaned kitten to raise with her.

Silver – This little girl is the playmate I found for 5 week old Waz. She is named for her silver grey coat which is darkening as she get older. She has a medium/long haired maine coon type coat with striking white markings. She loves the camera, and it loves her. She is Silver, Silver Sue, or Buzy Bee (reflecting her activity level).

Tabbie – Came to live with us on Columbus Day. Surrendered by a very loving family after a disagreement with the landlord (don’t know the details). Only know both he and his family are very upset. Knows his name, and is having a very hard time adapting to my multi-cat household. He is sweet and very handsome (orange and white DSH).

Werthers - Rescued a week ago today. Was pictured in a poster we sent around looking for people to socialize the 10 cats who were abandoned. Mel saw the poster and named the orange longhaired ball of fur Werthers. So now I have Waz and Wer in the house. I am socializing and expect to keep him and his name.

Duncan – Rescued a week ago today with Werthers. Again named by Mel. Duncan is blue-black medium haired and looks like he was dipped in milk. White paws in front, boots in back and a white bib. He also has all white whiskers and eyebrows on his black face. Very striking cat that I am trying to socialize. Apparently, they had both been handled as kittens, but are now 7-8 months and a bit skittish of humans. We are working on it.

Claudia (who now realizes that my signature needs updating)

I love hearing about how everyone picked a name for their fur babies!! What a great idea!

My Chicken Little was a stray when I found her and feral! I had been seeing her around my apartment complex for about a month and every time I came anywhere near her she ran away into the woods. One day I heard a noise at my door and when I opened it - low and behold there she was! She was so sick that she could not hardly stand up anymore. I rushed her to the vet and $400 later she was mine!! I thought that she was a boy so I named her Mr. Hankey. (long story why) When she went back for a check up they told me that "he" was a "she"!! They said just to call her Miss Hankey. I said No that it was not the same being called "Miss" Hankey. Anyway to make a long story short - when she got well she was back to being feral again and wanted no part of me! She had the biggest eyes and walked around looking up like the sky was falling down on her so I started calling her Chicken Little from a book that I had as a child about a scared chicken named what else - Chicken Little. When she started getting big I gave her the nickname of Chicken Medium and after many more pounds Chicken Big. My vet calls her Chicken Cat and the pet sitter calls her Miss. Chicken. I sometimes call her Baby Chicken and Chicken Poo.

My drooler (Little Dog) who I got 7 years ago from my step son who was not taking very good care of him was named Tubby after the coach for Auburn Tommy Tubberville. The other dog that lived here when I moved in was a Rockwiler named Shug after another Auburn coach. One was really big and one was little so I started calling them Big Dog and Little Dog.
Little Dog is a pomarian who is really a giant for a Pom - 13 pounds!!

Hobbs was originally named Billy, after his previous bean's brother because both were trouble makers. But I didn't like the name. I told a friend of mine that I was trying to come up with a different name and said he was sort of an orange cat, male, and likes to get into mischief. So she suggested Hobbs, like the cartoon (which is actually spelled Hobbes but I didn't know that for several years). And it stuck. He's also know as Hobbsy, Hobbsy-Wobbsy, Hobbsers, Mr. Hobbs, Cuddle Kitten, and Little One (because when I lived w/ my ex, he had a big black lab mix who was much larger)

Jeremy - civie - was named for "Chad and..." I was a teen in the 60's. We "met" when I used to have a bird feeder in my yard and this stray thought it was a take out restaurant for him! To stop he from going after a bird, I threw a hot dog out the window down to him. He ate it and of course came back each day. That was in summer of 2005 & we coaxed him inside 4 months later and he's been here since. He is bushy long haired black/white. Looks Maine C but is not. Has real cute face.

Gypsy - civie - was named because she came running out from nowhere into our yard while I was sitting there reading in 2007. She arrived pregnant and kept coming everyday. She had her kittens and I was able to place all four of them in friends' homes. We took her to the ASPCA truck to get spayed and she continued to live in our garage for another year, and we would put her in our bathroom overnight when temps got to be in teens in winter. Then we realized that for all intents she was already our cat, So we put her bathroom and took to vet next day for full checkup and she is now the Queen of the house. Still hyper and running all over the place. She is a BIG cuddler. She is typical tiger stripe.

Nicholas - my sugarboy - Was named for a character on my fav soap General Hospital (Nicholas Cassidine) He was a stray who showed up in our yard in early 2006. We fed him in day and then my dad took a liking to him and would go out at 11pm and call 'kittie' and Nicholas would come and my dad would sit there while Nick ate small bit of food. We brought him to vet for checkup and took him home into our house that Spring. He and my dad became inseparable and Nick goes to sleep on my dad's bed with him at night. Even when he's not feeling too great, he still managed to go upstairs and onto the bed. My dad is very elderly and I worry how he will be if Nick were to leave us. He is short haired white with black splotches. One on his back is perfect heart shape. First I thought he was a girl cos I saw nipples, so I started to call him Elizabeth. Then discovered he was a boy. But he would go and hump Jeremy so I think he's confused. I call it Broke Cat Mountain.

Nicknames - Jeremy = schweeeetie pie, coochie boy
Gypsy = Gypsy-girlie, tootsie girl, psycho cat (when she is on one of her tears around the house).
Nicholas = Nicky, Nickolish, I sing "My little Nicholiiiiiiiiish" to him and he comes rubs my leg, My dad calls him sweetie pie.

Broke Cat Mountain -
when Cedric and Dallas used to wrestle play, it usually ended up with Cedric sniffing Dallas' peeper and AI would say "Cedric, are you gay?" Dallas has had his way with the ladies, apparently, but Cedric never did.

Guess I'll throw in my 2 cents:

Lucian, named after the character Lucian Banks, the attorney in the movie "A Time To Kill". Character played by Donald Sutherland. Lucian was a barn cat, adopted at about 6 weeks by my son and his, then, fiance'. After they came to live with me for a bit, they moved into the city, I lived in the country, and I told them they could take him when they had a safe place for him. Needless to say, I've had him ever since, 15 yrs now. Lucian kitty bunch, kitty bunch, kitty bunches, momma's Lucian, momma's boy. Ex called him 'Grey and Tudinal' ( for attitude)

Patches. Someone dropped her off in the parking lot where I worked, at 5 weeks old. Took her to the vet the following day. Was asked the normal questions...What's the name? Doesn't have one. Is it male or female? Dunno. What color is it? Several. She is grey with tan and white patches. PATCHES! Name it that!. I figured it wouldn't matter the gender. Patches Puss, momma's patches, you little b*tch! (she was a terror as a kitten!) momma's little terrorist. She still gets called a terrorist at times.

Shadow. Adopted me at 1 AM in a grocery store parking lot. Feral and in heat, about 5 months old. Vet said if she had NOT been in heat, she wouldn't have come near me. Because she followed me constantly, I called her Shadow. She never gets called that, hasn't for years. She's Meow Meow, extremely vocal cat! Ex bf used to call her Fatgirl, she was quite plump at one time, about 18 lbs. Meow puss, Meow.

My male I lost 3 yrs ago was Ripley. Everyone thought he was named after the Sigourney Weaver character in Alien, I think it came out about that time, but he was named after Ripley's Believe It or Not. Mr Ripley was said to be the 'Master of Curiosities'. My cat Ripley was the most curious cat I ever saw! If you opened a cabinet, a drawer, anything he would fly into it! Had to see what was in there. Ripplepuss, Ripman, The Ripster, Ripples, Ripplepussman, Rip Van Pusser.

Nice to know I'm not the only one with crazy cat nicknames.

Also had cats named Abbott and Costello, Simon, who we later found to be Simone, Cat, Mouse, Sooty, Smokey, Evita...........had many more, but the memory is failing. Have had cats, dogs, snakes, rodents, rabbits, lizards, fish and turtles, all my life. And my last Golden, Sir Chewsalot of Middlesex, lovingly known to everyone as Chewie.

Debbie

I always wondered where you got Lucian's name... I love that movie.

I am intrigued by Ripley, the curious one. Was his head always where your hands are? My Bing has to be a part of everything I do (part of his neurological mis-firing, I am told) so consequently he gets hit in the face by accident. His face always seems to be where my hand is heading... then he comes back for more. Everything I open he jumps into... They are definitely high maintenance. Gotta love them though.

It's so much fun to see how people pick names!

I'm afraid that my poor cats when they were named I was 10 yrs old, so Pepper looked like ground pepper and Mocha reminded me of my very favorite coffee drink (I had a very active imagination, orange tabby = coffee ohmygod_smile ).

Mocha: Mocha Man, Handsome Man, My Best Boy, Mochy
Pepper: Pepper Kat, Pill

As a family we have also had Shredder (RIP) who enjoyed being carried on your shoulders and would shred your back in contentment. Brandy and Bandit (brothers) Brandy being the golden/white surly but people shy cat; and Bandit being the blk/wht energetic mischief maker. Along with Pinwheels, Sophia and PP.

Michelangelo: After my two previous cats passed on, I didn't have another cat for quite a few years. Then, some time in the beginning of 2012, I had this dream that I had a little tiger kitten named "Michelangelo" who went by "Mittens." Then, in June of last year, my roommate's sister-in-law called him up asking if I might be willing to foster a feral kitten she had rescued from her work because she didn't think he would survive the weekend. One of the feral cats in the colony at her work had given birth to a litter of three kittens about 8 weeks before and had abandoned one of her kittens, but kept the other two. They had named this kitten "Omar." My roommate's brother and sister-in-law came over about 30 minutes later on their way home from work with the tiny tyke. I took ONE LOOK at the little tiger kitten and I said that I couldn't foster him because I wasn't ever giving him back. He was mine now. :-D And I already had a name picked out for him from my prophetic dream a few months prior: Michelangelo. (Btw, he has never gone by Mittens and I write that name off as the absurdity that occurs within dreams, although he does have 4 white paws. I'm a bit psychic at times.)

Nicknames: I most often call him Mikes or Mikey-Mike or Jo-Jo or Mickey Mouse. He gets called Skitty-Kitty when he startles and runs and hides and flips out and freaks out at the slightest provocation. Mickey Mouse because he's obsessed with these toy mice I got him when he was a kitten and he still carries them around with him everywhere. I call him "Good boy!" when I finish testing him or giving him his shot. It's become his signal that I'm done poking and prodding him.

Mr. Henry T. Rockefeller: I'm gonna copy and paste this straight from his profile since I got him a couple of months after Michelangelo had been diagnosed and he got his own profile page. Henry was born "Merlin" to a lovely lady who didn't have money to get his mother fixed in time. He also had two other siblings, a "reverse tuxedo" (white and black) sister, and an orange and white tabby brother. The owner was recently diagnosed with kidney disease and couldn't afford to take them all to the vet so she sold the kittens to raise money to get the mother fixed. For the first few days, before I discovered what his name was, I called him "Mr. Tuxedo," or "Mr. T" for short. Then, one day while I was at work, my brother and his best friend were at the house and his best friend (who is half-Hawaiian) suggested "Heneli," which is Hawaiian for "Henry." I loved the name Henry and so did Mr. T, who responded to that name when he had yet to respond to anything else. My brother still calls him "Heneli," but he also still calls Michelangelo "Angelo," so it's fitting that Henry has a special name with him as well. The Rockefeller comes from the song "Putting on the Ritz" because he's so dapper in his tuxedo suit and masque.

Nicknames: Henry-Bear, Henly, Henry-Boo-Boo, Henry-Hugglemonster are the ones I use the most. Henry-Bear and Henry-Hugglemonster because he has this insatiable need to cuddle with me three times a day: in the morning when he first wakes up, in the evenings when I get home from work, and at bedtime. He is quite insistent on his snuggle-time and gets right up in my face and has to burrow his head against my neck. There is no dissuading him and he is so persistent that he reminds me of a little kid that's coming at you and you put your hand on their forehead to hold them back yet they still try to keep on coming (my niece and nephew used to do this to me when they were younger and usually filthy and wanting to try giving me hugs). He gets called Henry-Boo-Boo when he's being a little whiney brat for food when there's already plenty in their dishes or he's climbing on my counters. "Oh, is poor 'ittle Henry-Boo-Boo starving to death because he's only had breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner, and a snack today so far?"

How fun!!! I love reading about everyone's names!
Heffernan (orange American Bobtail)-He was Jupiter at the shelter because he was big as a planet. We adopted him at 33 lbs, his heighest weight was 35 lbs.
AKA Heff, Fluffy McButter pants (I can thank my friend Meg for that), Stinky Ass

Lennon (cinnamon Bengal)-He came with that name as a foster. We had no intention of keeping him, but after 9 months in foster care we fell in love with him and adopted him. At this point he knew the name. Not that he listens to us. He's a Bengal and does his own thing.

Bessie Lou (brown & white tabby DLH)-She was 1 of a litter of 4 kittens we fostered. We got them at about 4-5 weeks of age and they were in rough shape. They couldn't figure out how to eat & had chronic GI problems. Three didn't survive, but somehow Bessie did. She was always a messy eater and had to be bathed, so she was a Messy Bessy. Somehow that stuck and morphed in to Bessie Lou.
AKA Bessie Lou Who, Brat, Bad Girl, and other names I can't post here. She is on Prozac for inappropriate urination. She's not wired quite right.

Junior (tuxedo DSH)-He was Chester at the shelter. I'm a big Dale Earnhardt Jr fan and it was between Dario (for Dario Franchitti my other fave race car driver) or Junior. We were watching a race & they talked about Junior and he picked up his head--we said i guess that's his name!
AKA June Bug

Randolph (Black/Smoke DLH)-We got him about 2 years ago when a friend needed to rehome him. She had found him at the corner of Norman & Randolph Sts in Wilmington Oh. His mom was named Wilma and brother was Norman. They had a feral daddy and Randolph tends to have his dads's personality so he was not easily adoptable. Randolph lived the first 18 months of his life on the cat side of a dog daycare facility. When the facility closed, he needed a home because the owner of the place has dogs & Randolph is terrified of dogs. So he came to live with us--instantly clashed with Bessie who is 4 months younger. But we adore him.
AKA Pantalones, Smokey butt, Squeaky boy (pathetic girly high pitched meow)

Zosia (Zo-Sha) (Black Exotic Shorthair)-She had no name at the shelter we adopted her from. She's an all black Exotic Shorthair-they referred to her at the shelter as the "Fancy Cat". So she needed a fancy name. We joked that we were going to name her Weezie because she snorts & grunts with her flat face, but thought that was inappropriate. Zosia is Sophie is Polish-we are Polish and love that name.
AKA Princess Petunia Puggleface, Wheezy, Baby Girl, Petunia, lately we've been calling her Dowager Countess (downton abbey fans)

Some of our previous cats all over the bridge:
Sasha-named after Alexander Mogilny former Buffalo Sabre NHL player
Bodger-named after Doug Bodger former Buffalo Sabre NHL player
Colby-Flame Point Himalayan-we used to live on Colby St-orange cat named after orange cheese! We only had him 2 months as hospice for CKD.
Erik-foster kitten --came with that name-died before he was 6 months of severe anemia complications
Harri--Was named Luke at the shelter. Took her for the first vet exam--surprise you have a girl! So Harry (long haired grey cat) became Harri
AKA Demon Spawn, Harriet (my mother refused to call a girl cat Harri), Baby Girl, Twirlie Girlie, Harri for the holidays
Murphy-orange persian--came with that name when we fostered him at age 10.
AKA Murphy McSmurfy the cutest kitty in the world, Smurph, Smurphy

Dang Mel - are you sure we're not twins? I was just thinking of bumping this thread yesterday morning but didn't get to it! Then I pull up the board and find that YOU had the same thought.... :-D  There's another one somewhere about our cats nicknames.

HUGS!!

Guess I should also add my new additions since the thread was started.

Arabella has earned herself a new nickname...Spensive (expensive) after we discovered the hard way she was abandon declawed but unspayed. $313.00 later after an emergency surgery to discover she had pyo she is now our most expensive free cat.

Mariposa: found in a dumpster by DH's coworkers, then lost in their shop only later to be refound in a work truck glove box after a 150 mile round trip. Her name means Butterfly although I wanted to name her Itzpaplotl (aztec for butterfly) DH over-ruled me. Butterfly because she was discovered on the one year anniversary of both Onyx and my mother crossing the Bridge. The Aztecs believed that butterflies where the spirits of dead loved ones coming back to check on the living...The origin of butterfly kisses. As well as her only white marking on an otherwise silver coat is a butterfly over her mouth. A.K.A Mari, Posey, Mar Mar, Malimar, Marzipan and Flutterby

Kitty Cassanova: Red Tabby, owner surrender diabetic originally named K.C. which we changed to stand for Kitty Cassanova because he is such a lover of women. Immediately bonded to Arabella. Likes the fellas but is a puddle of goo for women. A.K.A 8-second ride (because he so busy cuddling at test time you have to hang on to his ear like a bull rider) Cass, Big orange, Lover boy and Pumpkin butt.

Mel and The Fur Gang

Prop and civie Berta got theis names from a danish tv puppet show. Prop is i danish a nicer name for being fat. In the show Prop is a fat man who likes to pick his nose when thinking. Berta is his cow. They lives in the wood and have all kinds of adventures together :)
In our adventure both Prop and Berta are girls :)

Nicknames: I often call them both Numse, wich is actually the danish word for butt. Prop I mostly call bubsi and Berta is just berte berte.

The picture show one of the Prop and Berta movies :)

my dad could never remember his name and calls him j.c. meatball.

angel is willy's brother. 4 months after we got willy our vet called and said someone had returned his brother so we went to get him. original name was gibson but we changed it to angel (aka angelus when he's bad(. turns out it should have been devil. he's sweet as pie but a big trouble maker with the other cats.

hallie was a stray who moved into our garage and decided to stay. she used to lay next to the space heater that we put out there for her and she looked exactly like the feral calico that we also feed who we named callie. so this one became heater callie or hallie . nicknames hallie bear, hallie berry

mr. tibbs also originally an outside stray who adopted us. i used to look out the window and say guess who's coming to dinner? since sidney poitier was in this movie and also they call me mr tibbs. tibbsey became mr. tibbs
