As Roy enters his 20th year he is getting thinner. He has been OTJ (and he was only on the juice for a scant week, I think) and really should not have been on it, based on one test at the Vet's office. I think tho, that he is beginning to have kidney problems. He drools a bit (especially when getting his head rubbed), his breath and his body smell funky; and yet he still grooms himself. He is eating his usual amount of FF; he vomits up froth; I am unsure of his drinking habits (he tends to graze at the munch bowl I have down for my other 3 cats); he also sleeps more than ever. He was outside the in the yard today for about an hour, ate some grass, threw up; we did have a good workout...he managed to speed up to a trot. I do not know if he is in pain. He is not trying to hide or has shown any of those "signs". However, he is constantly by my side, sleeps on my chest and his purring sounds funny. I spoke with my Vet and I am taking him in on Friday for a look-see...The Vet said he would look for masses, take his temp, check his urine pH and so forth. I would much rather keep him at home as long as I can and perhaps he can do his "check out" in a natural manner...he is now considered "older than dirt". I dread the thought of having to make "the big decision" and terminating his tenure on this earth in a Vet's office.
I guess I just need some moral support.
Yup.
:(

I hope all goes well at the vet's and it's a simple something that has Roy mildly troubled.

I know ECID but for what it's worth, my mom had a cat who finally passed over the rainbow bridge at the grand age of 26.

Paw hugs coming your way.

I believe that our cats tell us when it's time and they are ready. Paws crossed that it turns out to be something minor and easily treatable.
