OK, so I did a REALLY bad job of wrapping up this thread. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and congratulated us, posted pictures, songs gave Josie flowers (Baxter!). But most of all, thank you guys for giving us such amazing advice, support and encouragement over the past few months. It made all the difference in the world in her treatment.
And I WILL be sticking around this place. I feel so bad that I mentioned that I don't plan on leaving earlier in this post and then I was gone for almost two days. But I fell asleep Wednesday night after the party and things have been non-stop since.
I had to take one of my other kitties, Simba, into the vet for what I thought was an infected eye, but it turns out is a scratch on his eye that we are trying to keep from becoming infected. I was so worried about the little guy when I noticed the skin around his eye was bright pink and a bit swollen. (Still don't understand why it's pink around the eye, if the scratch is on the eyeball.) He has a weird imperfection in this eye, that he's had since he was a kitten. We've always been told it's nothing to worry about, but to watch out for changes. So I was very concerned when I saw changes. But luckily, it's just a scratch, probably from fighting with Mittens. It's been fun giving an antibiotic AND eye cream to him twice daily. He is not cooperative like Josie, except for his asthma meds, which I think he somehow senses is good for him.
Also, my husband and I bought our first house! Well, we still have to close, but we're under contract as of today! We've been looking seriously for over six months (and casually for longer than that) and had so many previous negotiations fall through. (It is SO not a buyers market where we're looking, although we did manage to get a fair price.) So that's been an adventure so far and we still have over a month to go! But it's exciting.
So anyway, I have been frazzled but I wanted to thank you guys properly AND also assure you that I didn't just take off. I want to stick around and hopefully you guys will have me!
