Hi everyone,
I haven't posted updates on Jose in a while, but I am in need of some advice that doesn't necessarily have to do with Feline Diabetes. Jose's diabetes has been pretty well regulated as of lately. Here and there we'll get some higher numbers but it's usually because he gets into the dry food that the other cats in the house eat (he stays with me in the basement of my family's house while the other cats are upstairs eating dry food).
Lately I have been finding that he is pooping outside of his litter box. It has happened in the past but recently it is almost every day. I thought it was because I would come home from work late but I have been home all weekend and he has pooped outside the box while I've been home. I was upstairs when it happened however so I did not see him in the act. He uses his box to urinate but has been pooping in other areas of the basement. I clean his litter box every morning before I leave for work. He has pooped under my bed and in the laundry room. Both areas have carpeting. He has never pooped on the cement floor areas (partially finished basement). I moved his litter box to another area further away from his food thinking that maybe it was too close to where he eats. I also bought a larger litter box for him. Since these changes he has pooped in the box for a few days but now he is back to pooping outside the box. My next step is to put another litter box in the basement in the laundry room with a different type of litter.
Does anyone have any more advice or suggestions on what I could do to get him to stop this behavior or what maybe causing it?
