Just want to say a heartfelt thank you for all the valuable information shared with me at my original post re: New here
Jordan has had diabetes since June 2009. Started on a different insulin Humilin did not do well. Has been on ProZinc for 3 yrs he was doing so well until this summer when vet diagnosed his IBS.
Was able to give him leftover ( vet approved) liquid Metro today. He didn't put up a fight, though he may not take it as easily the next time as I sort of caught him off-guard. A small treat of home broiled turkey followed. He's been resting well thank heavens. I have more capsules of Metro left than liquid so am considering opening the capsule, adding water and giving it to him that way when finished with the liquid, only 2 doses of liquid left maximum.
The new bottle of ProZin won't arrive until ( fingers crossed ) soonest will be Tues afternoon. The minute the call comes in I'll make the 70+ mile RT to pick it up. It stays cold during the trip home. Running dangerously low on amount of "good" leftover insulin Have full bottle of the "questionable" insulin but reluctant to give him any of it again. It set off his IBS almost immediately last wk. Also vet is no longer going to order it from that particular manufacturer.
A BIG thank you to the messages filled with great info on my original post. I will learn to navigate the boards here when time allows. I appreciate all suggestions and info offered. On everything from the cat litter, to the lancets to foods etc. And thanks to each of you for posting links, too.
I'll keep everyone updated, Jordan such a handsome large pawed gray cat, will learn to post a photo of him. He's such a well mannered mellow cat. Upsets me to see him in such distress with the diarrhea. He's been eating less. He started on FF wet and dry food as a kitten and is very finicky. When offered other brands of food he refused to eat at all. I apologize to all but am extremely stressed out, trying to get myself well but so worried about both my cats. Jordan especially. The female, her nickname is 'Cissy' is hyper, vocal to the extreme, and Jordan has never gotten along with her. Both vets told me long ago they just were not going to get along well. I adopted Jordan March of 2003 and 'Cissy' was 8 wks old when I brought her home June of 2003. He took an instant dislike to her. It has been a challenging few yrs.
