It has been a few days since I posted about Jonesy. Jones was doing well but I think we have a pancreatitis/IBD flair up. Which is disappointing consider how well his BW was a couple weeks back. His appetite is off, he is meat-loafing a bit, his numbers seem a little out of pattern and his behaviour patterns have changed a bit. It is has a been like a day and a half. Maybe I am just being sensitive but.... Before that, he ate all his food day and night for three days (those nice green days), cuddled, was preening. There is some slightly goopy poop yesterday in the upstairs litter box - not sure if it is his or not. There was nothing in the downstairs litter boxes out of the normal.

Still haven't started the switch to the raw/homemade diet. I leave for a friends wedding next Thursday and will be gone till Sunday. The same cat sitter I had last time is coming again which is good. I didn't know if I wanted to start something just before I left. I haven't changed his meds either, even though the vet said I could try to take them down. I am scared to:nailbiting: until I am done the diet changes. Either that or just a chicken pooper.

I did try some new canned food. Should of done my research first:banghead:, found out it had pumpkin (red zone allergen).:banghead::banghead: So even though he liked the lamb and duck, he can't have any more. I will learn, feel like a tool right now. Need to remember to bring glasses to the store so I can read all the ingredients.

That said I have ordered my supplements for making homemade food as per the TC Feline recipe and will be stopping at a store that has the meat only options I would like to try. I am looking at the Red Dog Blue Kat ones. Sent them an email to confirm portion of muscle meat to liver to heart/kidney in their pre made meat only packages., just so I know. Checked out their full meal ones as well against his allergy list, which will work. Just thought if I could keep the ingredients simple that it would be better for him. I am so indecisive right now with him and when I make a decision it wasn't the right one. Yep, bring out the pity wagon!:(

I just don't know with him. Feeling a bit like I am letting him down.

I am done my pity party now.

Hope everyone has a great day surfing in the lagoon.

Jones is spending a lot of time in green. I don't think there is much you can change on the diabetes side of things. I think you are doing a great job in handling his FD. :bighug:

My IBD civie gets the Red Dog/Blue Kat full meals for half of his meals and I make the rest. Call me a little lazy but I like less work. Sending vines for Jones to feel better soon.

He is not eager for the raw, but he will take cooked. I noticed the cooked recipe on the TC Feline site. So I thought I could at least start there. I am lazy sometimes too and that is why I was looking at the only meat option from Red Dog - no bones :). I can then transition from the current chicken/turkey to the lamb/buffalo/duck/pork. Maybe I should just start with chicken...ugg. Too many decisions. I just don't want to take a wrong step and set him back. :nailbiting:

Some of the RDBK options have Buffalo bone powder instead of bones, so those can be cooked. The main thing with IBD is going slowly with the changes and doing one at a time. It makes FD look like the quick step.:p
